I’m surprised how much lower those are than the military. I guess the DoD is more diverse so that may explain it. Especially a place like NYC where it saw first hand the magnitude of the pandemic, with lots of police dying.

Most treadmills have barriers at the back that limit how far the belt can suck you under, so that the worst-case scenario is some rugburn. Apparently theirs is either poorly designed or hosed up in some way - it's not supposed to drag kids all the way under like that.

Yeah, I own a treadmill (Nordic Track) and it’s pretty tightly covered on the front and back. I could see a pinched digit if you really tried to get it in there, which kids do, but death would be really difficult.

Supposedly* someone did a study to this effect and the results were about what you'd expect lol

There are tons of reciprocity studies in Sociology, and they typically turn out good in individuals, to the point where sociologist thought it was a universal norm among humans. Then they went out of the bubble of academia and saw that racism is a very real thing, and will turn things on their head really quick.

Also their minds were blown when the went down to Peru and tried it with some outlying indigenous peoples and it was a crap shoot on how they’d respond.

I drove as quickly as I could through that place.

Trump’s base is white people. The less diverse and more evangelical the place is, the more Trumpy it’ll be.

Indiana is the most conservative place in the Midwest. My family is from there and boy howdy do we try to avoid having to go back there outside of weddings and funerals.

I'm less bothered about the space golf courses use as the amount of water. They average 130,000 gallons per course per day.

For sense of scale, flint Michigan needs about 95,000 gallons of drinking water per day.

Golf sucks but they use non potable water typically. I grew up in FL and all of those courses smell like sewage first thing in the morning. I played peewee football with a couple kids from a gated community and even their fancy rear end country club course smelled awful.

QAnon's already dead. It's basically been rebranded/absorbed into the fringe fringe right, as the fringe right took over the party. Example:

Not sure how being mainstreamed in the GOP makes it dead. Usually dead things don’t gain power and influence.

Plus their forums are still very much active and have seen an uptick in may. I wouldn’t count those crazy fucks just yet.

Basically 1st base, where you run to after you make contact with the ball is somewhat special. All you have to do is touch the base with any part of your body while holding the ball before the runner makes it there.

Other bases aren’t always this way, as if there is no one behind you, you don’t have to advance bases, so the only way to get tagged out is if you aren’t standing on a base (essentially a safe zone) and the person who touches you is hold the ball. So instead of just casually walking to the base and touching his foot to it, ending that inning, he chased the batter like it was 2nd or 3rd base, causing a stupendously stupid turn of events.
