Lol Snyder definitely made the right call to not give Chris D'Elia a redemption on moment

I missed the robots when was it and were they cool?

Also what the gently caress there were four movies worth of weird in the background and none of it got developed.

When the Alphas are attacking them in the hallways by the vault there seems like one zombie has glowing blue eyes? But the biggest robot zombie thing is when Guzman is killing zombies on the casino floor, he shoots one in the face and it falls and you can see a metal skeleton or something and glowing eyes and sparks I think. It's legit intriguing.

Thanks! Just rewatched those scenes and that was fun! It adds to the sense that there's a lot more going on. I read that there's a flying UFO too?

In the very first scene, as the trucks are leaving Area 51. Pay attention to two lights in the sky. As soon as the trucks roll out they dart off.

It's not uncommon for people to get nit-picky with movies they're not enjoying. Tons of films have ticking clocks like "Five minutes until [BLANK] happens!" and then take half an hour to count it down. How much that bothers you depends on how much you're into the film at that point.

Best gag in the movie was the paratroopers deploying right into the crowds of zombies. I couldn’t stop laughing at those poor bastards.

Lmao I forgot about this. You're right.

Such a weird complaint. Did they have the same problem with Plummer's scenes in All The Money in the World?

Or, like, in Aliens if they were able to realistically replace Drake or Spunkmeyer in their scenes before the movie was released... does that loving matter at all?

I mean, there is some merit in the idea that different actors will bring different performances, /energy/charisma/etc, and some actors might not gel with the script & initial directorial vision.

I cant imagine seeing Chris D'Elia as the lynchpin holding Army of the Dead together though. If anything Tig Notaro is pointed out as one of the highlights of the film, even by people critical of the film.

Sure. They're right that it isn't interchangeable, it's a different performance. I mentioned earlier that it would have been awful to give D'Elia that moment Tig gets at the end. But it's strange to imply that it's necessarily a negative that they were able to do reshoots to change a side character.

The really self indulgent opening was amusing at least, I'll give it that.

What do you mean by self-indulgent? What was different from the opening compared to the rest of it?

(I will say, I really enjoyed the title credits story with the badass lady who ended up crushed. So it's a cool self-contained little thing, but I don't get self-indulgent)

I'm rewatching ZSJL and laughed because I totally forgot about the cut from Steppenwolf to Bruce Wayne's like Gillette razor. Snyder's a funny guy.
