Despite the moves difficulty, they gave it a provisional scoring value of 6.6, close to what Biless other vaults have received. That limited the points available for performing it successfully, a point that a frustrated Biles suggested was unfair to her. provisional scoring value seems to suggest the judges dont actually have the authority to decide how many points a new move is worth and are reluctant to make on the spot judgment calls about such a thing when their job is to evaluate existing moves quote:Biles said Saturday that the gymnastics federation had similarly given her double-twisting, double-back beam dismount a start value that was too low, and that she expects it to undervalue her Yurchenko double pike when it is reviewed. that the writer of the article is just taking biles word for it instead of asking the gymastics federation directly or just looking up the start value herself suggests to me that she didnt want to be bothered to do any actual research and as a final note WrightOfWay posted:Sports scored by judges are bullshit imo scored sports are so stupidly and demonstrably subjective id need an argument to convince me that start values even matter at all compared to individual execution or just bribing the judges

https://twitter.com/naomiosaka/status/1399422304854188037/photo/2 gotta say im not terribly surprised to learn that osaka has been depressed since the 2018 us open and has also developed an aversion to journalists considering the big story at the time wasnt that osaka won with her badass tennis skills but that she indirectly cheated and stole victory from her lifelong idol serena williams thanks to the referee racistly telling serena williams to gently caress off for having psychotic temper tantrums on the court

The same year as the Leafs last Cup win, the NHL expanded to 12 teams. The only one of those six expansion teams not to win a Cup since then was the Oakland Seals/Cleveland Barons, who no longer exist as they were merged with the North Stars in 1980.

One thing that always bothered me: in Leprechaun in the Hood, Ice-T is able to sneak up behind the leprechaun with the amulet (which will turn the leprechaun back into stone) but INSTEAD he opts to hit the leprechaun with a chair as if this was some kind of pro wrasslin match

IIRC there was an independent commission to determine if UNLV's mascot was due to racism and the finding was that the people involved in choosing it really were ignorant about the overtones of it and just wanted a fun rebellious mascot. So not directly terrible, but indirectly due to being really really dumb.

There is a definite chance that she decides that fighting with the largest tournaments in tennis isn't worth the trouble, especially when struggling with health issues, and just moves on to a different career Edit: top ranked tennis pros are required by their federations to participate in certain tournaments, they don't get to fully set their own schedule. Osaka can't just choose not to go to the French Open. If she did, the WTA would fine her or suspend her from other tournaments. Also the terrible press conference issue is pretty much the same across all levels. Pead has issued a correction as of 19:23 on Jun 7, 2021 |
