That's along the lines of how I read this: "The exact timing of Biden’s remarks has not yet been settled. The president is due to take a physical exam Thursday that could last several hours." i.e. prep time

“One word, Ma’am,” he said, coming back from the fire; limping, because of the pain. “One word. All you’ve been saying is quite right, I shouldn’t wonder. I’m a chap who always liked to know the worst and then put the best face I can on it. So I won’t deny any of what you said. But there’s one more thing to be said, even so. Suppose we have only dreamed, or made up, all those things - trees and grass and sun and moon and stars and Aslan himself. Suppose we have. Then all I can say is that, in that case, the made-up things seem a good deal more important than the real ones. Suppose this black pit of a kingdom of yours is the only world. Well, it strikes me as a pretty poor one. And that’s a funny thing, when you come to think of it. We’re just babies making up a game, if you’re right. But four babies playing a game can make a play-world which licks your real world hollow. That’s why I’m going to stand by the play world. I’m on Aslan’s side even if there isn’t any Aslan to lead it. I’m going to live as like a Narnian as I can even if there isn’t any Narnia. So, thanking you kindly for our supper, if these two gentlemen and the young lady are ready, we’re leaving your court at once and setting out in the dark to spend our lives looking for Overland. Not that our lives will be very long, I should think; but that’s a small loss if the world’s as dull a place as you say.”

Started watching the NatGeo doc and I did catch a huge red flag, at one point he said the reporter asked him if something was genuine, and he said he told her "I can tell you this is genuine." So he didn't actually say it's genuine, in classic spook-talk fashion.

I figured his Mars base stuff was really more for surviving climate change and ecological collapse here on Earth but with Mars on the sticker to get investors and public interest hyped for it.

In all seriousness, even an Earth with apocalyptic ecological collapse is still orders of magnitude more livable than Mars, so I can see that as far as it goes. But getting himself out of reach of the desperate nation-states warring over dwindling supplies of fresh water and the like, is a very real possibility imo.

"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us. For the creation eagerly waits with anticipation for God’s sons to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to futility—not willingly, but because of him who subjected it—in the hope that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage to decay into the glorious freedom of God’s children. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together with labor pains until now."

I had a random rambly thought the other day and I wonder what you all think of it

we often think of ourselves as pretty powerless in the face of the infinite but we do also sorta have a superpower in that we can collapse nearly infinite possibilities into singular ones

like a deer can hear a stick breaking and the only thing it can do it that situation is run

we can look at an empty canvas or page or wall and put anything we want onto it... write any story our minds are capable of concocting or just day dream infinitely while staring at clouds

it's not a high thought but it sure feels like one, huh
anywho... it felt empowering

We are made in the image of God. When the Bible says that, the only thing it says he's done so far is create, so that should tell you something. In other words, I agree with you.

LITERALLY A BIRD posted:

This kind of intersects also with an aside the witchcraft thread just had about what "spells" are exactly ("what you do every day, actually") and a thought it helped me have about the differences between a spell and a prayer including the amount of creativity put into it. A prayer may be compelling speech, but it is still only speech; whereas something that an onlooker might perceive as a "spell" or "ritual" contains additional creative elements, the more intricate or intimate or exotic the more powerful the spell. If I ask the Divine to help my friend through their troubles through words alone, I am praying. If I ask the Divine to help my friend through their troubles, in rhythm or verse, while stirring a pot of herbal confections pleasing to that Deity for that friend to consume and be thereby uplifted and empowered; I am practicing magic.

If to create is to participate in the Divine nature, and this is both expected and desired of us; and if to practice magic is simply to express our prayers in creative ways; then if one truly desires to create change in the world what is one to do, but practice magic

I will go along with you as far as, this depends on the Power one is addressing. We come from different faith traditions, of course. Offering one's "broken and contrite spirit," offering oneself as a "living sacrifice," showing mercy and helping the poor and powerless, are the acts of true worship and prayer. I know it will be unproductive to argue about the object of your worship, so take care. :)
