You misunderstand. I have all of the parts of that that aren't working for a loving defense contractor (and I'm specialized in materials, not physics or EE.) I need to figure out whose inbox to drop a C.V. in.

do you think you could pass a full security clearance? I barely even deal with medical data and they combed over the last 7 years of my life for that access so I would imagine getting to see the little grey men in their sterile room ala X-Files season 1 episode 2 would take even more than that

"We've been saying hypersonics is two years away for the last 20 years, but all I can say is the technology is mature and we, along with DARPA and the services, are working hard to get that capability into the hands of our warfighters as soon as possible," Rob Weiss, Lockheed Martin's executive vice president and general manager for Skunk Works, told Aviation Week.

In 2017, Lockheed Martin had announced that the SR-72 would be in development by the early 2020s and could be in service by the early 2030s, but a year later it was announced that progress had been slow going based on the technological demands of the project.

When I was a kid I would sometimes feel these weird shifts in perspective, like things would rush far away or I would seem tiny. And then they just went away. Could it be? could it have been the birds?

the 'hard problem of consciousness' never made much sense to me, no one think its mysterious that even the simplest animals feel pain or hunger or the pleasure or pain of reinforcement and its the same basic principle

Perry Mason Jar posted:

None of that requires conscious experience or the existence of subjectivity. That is, what accounts for the apparent necessity, or just the existence of if it isn't necessary (and we should say it isn't), of a "me"? Much less a "me" capable of asking what am I and why am I here?

You can imagine that a zombie feels pain, hunger, pleasure, and so on but the zombie doesn't have an experience, it is just doing not experiencing. Why shouldn't that always be the case?

because we (animals) are complex creatures that evolved in a complex changing world and humans are very special creatures that have the biggest most beautiful brains. experiencing the world, or at least creating a model of it in our heads based on the input we get and using that for prediction, helps us navigate it which is why it's been so successful
