Is she the person who wrote the song that Pavement covered about running up a hill?

Does she have other songs, I've never heard a single song of hers

She was in the top 100 a few times from the 80's and 90's but I think she only one broke top 40 with 'running up that hill' which I don't think was posted https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wp43OdtAAkM

I don't think her songs are easily translated to being covered since half the charm of her songs is her great voice.

This song has been referenced upthread, might as well post the video (yup that is Donald Sutherland):

Apparently she was discovered by Dave Gilmour who helped her get her first record contract at like age 16.

I downloaded The Dreaming off Napster in college because i thought there might be a connection to The Sandman comics, didn't really enjoy it at the time. Then four or five years ago i randomly got really obsessed with Cloudbusting, and now i love so many songs. I still dream of orgonon!

Yes, she was super talented from a young age. He's played on a few tracks with her over the years. I originally thought the solo from Wuthering Heights was him, but google tells me it is not.

Here's some really awesome guitar from him with her.

I was in a covers-band for a minute and the drummer would not use ANY dynamics playing this. Full tilt dun-dagga-dun-dagga-dun-dagga-dun all the time. TBF it's probably really fun to play on drums.

I don't think they were intentionally. More that Kate Bush was in the "2 cool 4 u" scene of the 80s and in the 90s it wasn't cool to do anything from the 80s, much less the relatively obscure stuff.

I love Kate Bush. My mom played her 'Best Of' CD a lot when I was a teenager and I thought it was ok. I got into her stuff for real after college when I listened to it as an adult.

Check out this concert video, it's amazing. Her band really kicks rear end too.

Kate Bush was out of the US popular eye by the 90s so you wouldn't have seen lounge covers. Boomers or 80s fans would be expected to know Wuthering Heights and Running Up That Hill but she was thoroughly in the alt scene beside and after that.

I think it's legally required for any goth girl after 1990 to have a Kate Bush phase.

Kate Bush owns extremely hard. Her sense of melody is world class, it's a shame she isn't putting out as much music anymore.

You’re a Kate Bush fan if you’re a woman who is really into the local crystal and glass dragon shop, and buys half-cutaway geodes and maybe has a Faerie tattoo or sticker on your car, into renaissance fairs and probably describe yourself as pansexual

Or if you’re a guy, [nipple pic]

i think hounds of love is one of her most accessible albums because her voice is a lot less weirdly high-pitched than it is on her earlier stuff

and i think its just a really good album in general tbf, its one of my faves
