I just made it to the end of series two and this show is everything I could have hoped it would be.

After finally taking a look at the op I saw that there’s an official podcast! And not only one, but at least 11 of them! Are any of the others worth checking out while I’m at it?

11 podcasts? I'm only aware of the official ones with Ed Gamble and the "people's podcast" or w/e with Lou Sanders.

Looking again one of them was a wrestling podcast so I’m not including that but the rest of these seem to be about the show… I think

E- upon further inspection a few of those seem to be defunct but it’s still more than two, I promise

Now I’m midway into season three and have forced at least four other people into loving it too.

The podcast is so good, hearing Romesh talk about smashing 36 eggs was even better than seeing him do it in the first place. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him on anything but Taskmaster but I’m a fan now.

Is the show usually censored or is that just on YouTube? It was fun hearing uncensored clips on the podcast and made me wonder how I can see it that way.

Five episodes into my first viewing of series 4 and it’s definitely my least favorite so far. The combination of punitive scoring against Hugh while Noel gets many blatantly undeserved high scores is a little too much, even on a show that isn’t really that competitive.

Before this series I liked Noel but now I’m getting sick of his poo poo and hope he doesn’t get handed the golden Greg when it should probably go to Joe

I’m on season 5 and following along with the podcast for each episode. It’s a fun way to experience the show for the first time, except for how often he drops spoilers about the season outcomes. I guess he assumes everyone has seen it all already, but I haven’t :argh:

I was enjoying listening to the Taskmater podcast as I go through my first watch of the show but drat Ed drops so many spoilers it’s crazy.

He’ll preface the episode by saying something like “if you haven’t watched this episode go watch it and come back” then he’ll proceed to reveal the winner of the series, and if the guest is from a later series he’ll probably spoil that one too.

The only relatively safe move is to wait until I’ve finished a series then go back and only listen if the guest is from that series or earlier.

Anyway, Taskmaster rules. I’m on series 7 and wish I could binge it faster but my girlfriend would kill me if I kept going without her.

I don't really get the big problem people have with food waste on TV. Fair enough if it's a massive amount of food, but nobody was going hungry if Dara O'Brien didn't get some old man to suck up the orange juice in his breakfast pan.

Yeah, there’s an incredible amount of food waste on every tv show just from excess catering for the crew. The onscreen food waste probably doesn’t even compare but we actually see it happen

Crew take a lot of food home with them, there’s a lot less wastage than you’d think from craft services.

I’ve been working in film and tv for 25 years, what I see is absolutely insane routine waste

E- they often discourage bringing much food home too. If you happen to catch them right before it all goes in the trash then sure but that’s unlikely. Many caterers won’t put out the to-go containers because they don’t want people taking meals home with them

I did hear that bored ape thing from seth green was overcatered ig

Yeah it’s mostly just the shooting crew’s catering waste that’s so outrageous, especially on big productions. But I could also see it being very tough to improve the situation with such large volumes of food on very tight timelines and odd schedules.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen single meals cause more food waste than the entirety of what I’ve seen on Taskmaster but I won’t ramble on about catering/craft service forever as much as I would love to :) I just do my part by putting as much of it in my belly as possible o7

What are some good podcasts by Taskmaster contestants?

I’m going on a long flight so I’m downloading a bunch of new stuff. I’ve listened to a little of Lou Sanders’ Cuddle Club, a little Horne Section, and I have a few episodes downloaded of Romesh’s hip hop show and Turning the Tables with James Acaster and Josh Widdicombe.

Seems like lots of them have had multiple shows so I don’t know where to start, some must stand out from the rest.

Oh and I’m only on season 9 so I don’t really want to start listening to people I haven’t seen on TM yet

I’m catching up on TM slowly but surely, halfway through series 14 now and finally able to start skimming the thread without fear of spoilers.

So far I’d say the most unfairly underrated contestants are Jo and Liza, my BFFs, and most overrated is still Noel.

At least I haven’t felt like anyone since 4 has been as egregiously handed points as Noel was. If he had won the champion of champions I would have had to at least act like a petulant baby for a few minutes or something

They each say "Make sure the person in the beret gets a ticket to the show. Fastest time wins. Your time starts now." and I'm going to hit the surrounding intersections a couple hours ahead of the show.

Based on all the shows I've optimistically bought two tickets for as a single person, I believe at least one lonely person will think this clever enough to hook me up. Thought about doing a sign or jumpsuit or dressing up like Alex, but that's less my style. If anyone wants to join, I will be, uh, the person in the beret.

Wow!! Very impressive. If I can get out of work early enough I’ll be there.

This is making me imagine a Trump-hosted Apprentice/Taskmaster crossover and I hate it
