i only watched a couple of eps of @midnight because it sucked, but it seemed like it failed to get the point of uk celeb panel shows: winning doesn't really matter

yeah, the second season got funding in march 21 and aired in july 21.

nz on air has funded another comedy panel show for more than a decade, and i'd guess that they'll continue supporting taskmaster if it keeps doing well.

Chris Parker is the only one I'm familiar with, he definitely seems like he'll try way too hard.

justine smith and paul ego are like elder statesmen of nz comedy, josh thompson will be extremely chaotic. not that familiar with kura forrester's stuff.

first ep of the new taskmaster nz is pretty low-energy, probably not helped by the lack of audience. josh and kura seem like they're gonna be the most fun.

i think my biggest criticism of tmnz is that it relies too heavily on improv comedy style tasks (like the best friend one in the most recent ep). or maybe nz comedians default to bad skits whenever they're told to be creative, idk.

Like, I found Nishs' angry, chaotic ineptitude very funny, and Paul Chowdhrys' dry, dazed ineptitude quite funny, but I'm just not finding Johns' poor attempts and lack of particularly amusing banter in the studio funny at all so far? I think I'm missing something about him.
