Not at all surprising that American Evangelicals are peddling their bullshit here, but more that it's actually gained traction in Parliament. Charlie Angus being a huge advocate for this bullshit is disappointing. https://twitter.com/GustavoTurnerX/status/1405600307254489089

If I have learned anything from the past year it's not to underestimate Canada's capacity for naked racism. You should assume the worst.

There were restrictions? I thought everything already opened up entirely once they started doing those again. I wanted to get Mitski tickets and was worried about how crowded Massey Hall might be, but they were all gone in the pre-sale.

Once again I'm just speaking anecdotally, but, LMAO what capacity limits? It was a slow trickle but we've increasingly had more and more people sit in for dining and it gets really packed on weekends. People were hesitant at first with the vaccine passport stuff but they got used to it and now it's packed as it was pre-COVID. I picked a good time to take some time off at least.

Fidelitious posted:At this point $15/hour is obsolete and is not a living wage in most places. I'm guessing that it should be closer to $20 now. The only reason Wynne campaigned on 15 was because Canadian politics always has to take cues from American politics and there's been a long time fight to raise the American minimum wage to $15. $15 isn't enough in either country; IIRC it should be something closer to $25 USD if wages kept pace with inflation since the 70s, which is ~$31 CAD. People here already poo poo themselves when it went up to $14 and I legit had co-workers mad that their pay went up because bosses cut hours.

I still remember right in the leadup to the pandemic, Ontario teachers were striking because Ford was trying to gently caress with schools by implementing half-assed online learning. From all appearances, it seems like what they've done with the pandemic is what they would've done if Ford got his way, but I'm not a teacher so someone correct me on that if I'm wrong. I agree that sitting kids in front of computers to do zoom calls all day sucks but the solution to that isn't dooming an entire generation to long COVID. TheCenturion posted:TLDR: “I was on hold for three hours, this is proof that society is collapsing.” It's blisteringly funny that he realizes that COVID is making all of our systems collapse, but his takeaway is that it's the pathetic public health measures we *are* taking rather that is the true cause and we need to let 'er rip.

It certainly seems disingenuous to me to say COVID does not significantly spread via schools when the studies cited are about the wild type while we're dealing with the much more transmissable Omicron variant.
