It's a little bit juvenile, but it's simple and it's timeless.

You're picturing it and you're talking about it. That's a win in my book.

It's such a bummer to see what's happened to him and Pujols. First-ballot hall of famers who were the most fearer hitters in the game, and now their names are the only things keeping them on a major league roster.

Jesus god I just looked up Miggy's contract and not only does it have two more years on it, it also has $30m vesting options if he finished in the top 10 of the MVP voting in his age-40 and age-41 seasons :psyduck:

The best dumb contract has to be Chad Davis' though, no questions asked

MiLB often also has the benefit of being really cheap. They want fans in the stadium a lot of times, so beer and snacks (of dubious quality) are often very reasonably priced.

People like to say that baseball is boring, and I like to tell those people that baseball likes to give time for little narratives to develop within each at-bat, which contribute to the larger stories of the inning and the game as a whole

and then I hope those people don't counter by saying that sometimes at-bats go on for so long that everyone just straight up forgets the count, on a semi-regular basis lol

what you say about narratives in the game is true

that’s what makes espn telecasts such an abomination . they are terrified of covering the game . all words and graphics and segments are about things other than what is happening in the game . the announcers hardly know who is playing. I can’t imagine growing an audience with this product

local broadcast are somewhat better and only get distracted by ad reads

i feel like the storylines that are starting to emerge are the dudes who are way down the depth chart who are getting called up and making a real go of it.

Mercedes on ChiSox, there's a couple relivers floating around who have pitched really well. If Pujols had hit the walk off dinger last night that got robbed, I'd say Pujols hitting better for the dodgers than he's hit in years.

Yankees fans melting down at a team that's probably the best in the AL because they're not hitting enough dingers, though that could just be something awful.

almost every at bat in an mlb game is an exciting strategy confrontation with paragraphs that can be said about pitch sequences, the pitchers command , the pitchers current stamina, the hitters weak areas, the outcome of previous at bats, the game context of the at bat (how many out , runners on , the score ), a hitters and pitchers historic match up, the position of the fielders, the actions of three catcher, etc etc

local broadcasts cover this pretty well imho . but even then baseball people on tv are afraid to talk baseball and instead talk in cliches . espn doesn’t cover any of this

everyone who i talk to who's more our age (and I know you're a bit older than me, but say, gen-x + millennial) who actually likes baseball leans heavily into the nuance of it. The depth and complexity is actually the fun part. The problem is that the brain geniuses who run the drat game think it needs to be more like the NFL

i mean except win multiple MVPs and average more than a base an at-bat for almost his entire career. The angels failing to put any pitching on a team around him isn't his fault.
