May Lonzo and Bledsoe bring present and future blessings to the Pels with their highly anticipated departures this offseason.

Salvor_Hardin posted:I guess I'm just reacting to the notion I hear in podcasts (and earlier in this thread) about letting a guy walk with no return. I guess I see that as the default state of the end of a contract if there isn't a mutual agreement to resign. In addition to what other folks have said, it is also a salary cap issue thing. Typically, someone like that has a hefty contract. And contending teams are often operating over the cap. Letting that player go without trading them may take the team under the cap, but not by much, and that prevents them from signing FA from other teams to a big contract. It limits the team's options to acquire quality players.

Rick posted:Dwight never got his full range of motion back. Paul George took about a year before he was playing like he used to. The good news is offensively he is better than ever. Jason Smith was never the same after his, iirc. I can't remember if AD had it happen to him, as well. Blocking shots ruins shoulders, folks.

Josh Hart apparently wants a "fresh start" somewhere other than NOLA, and preferably Cleveland with his friend, Larry Nance. Which, fair. Now I don't have to worry as much about the team over-paying for him.

Lockback posted:Was SVG the wrong choice? I mean I don't mind them going after someone else if they think they need to but I thought SVG did a perfectly fine job. If you fire him after a single season, then, yes, he was the wrong choice. FWIW, I don't think he did a bad job. Key franchise players may have already started to tune him out, however.

Dejan Bimble posted:I'll let Kibner explain his catch and shoot problems so I look less foolish Fine. His catch and shoot is good. Unless you are asking him to come off screens or any kind of movement. He's a stationary shooter. No one comes out to guard him so all his catch and shoot attempts are wide open. Which probably works fine in an offense with both LeBron and AD. He just does nothing else that the defense is scared of and they aren't really scared of that one thing he is good at.

Rick posted:I’m the second half of the season the Lakers actually really struggled to find stationary shooters and swapping Lonzo for Schroder or KCP makes the Lakers even more predictable. He can also take a bunch of side-step and step-back 3s and convert them at like a 25% rate! Lonzo would be excellent player to have on your team if he was paid like PJ Tucker or Jae Crowder. But he wants big starter money.

If Ingram would play the defense he is capable of, he'd be inverse Kris Middleton.
