it always amazes me that anyone reads any of those people. they know their audience, so they always predict some sort of incremental hardware update because people get more excited about new hardware, and they always pretend somebody leaked the info to them so that it doesn't just sound like some idiot's random guess. they're literally just trufans who would be photoshopping the next iphone if they had any photoshop skills

haveblue posted:that and people really really want m1 models that don't compromise on features compared to the intel pros I really really hope this happens because it would be a goddamn city on a hill: MacBook Pro M1X/2/whatever, 16 inch. Touch Bar yes or no I don't care EGPU passthrough. If at all possible that idiotic feud with Nvidia ending too. Win10 ARM bootcamp. I'll buy the base model with just the first point and build a lovely pc gaming box otherwise, but if I can hit all three I'll get the top end one and do what my present 16 inch is doing. General computing, and push windows button for games off an egpu.

akadajet posted:a lot of times the rumor sites are pretty spot on. i'd be surprised if we don't see a macbook pro without the useless touchbar relatively soon. this is what i mean, though. these are literally just some guys in their basements telling you stuff you want to hear. their predictions are all obvious as poo poo except for release dates, and they're usually wrong about release dates, often by like half a year or more. so what are you getting by reading them? like, the rumor sites in general are useful, but it's not because of the rumors, it's because they're news aggregators about something you care about. by all means, read the news about things you care about. but these product rumors are totally not worth your time

the rumor sites usually managed to predict everything that happens because if you publish enough made up "rumors" one of them will be pretty close. that doesn't mean that any given "rumor" is actually telling you anything.

eschaton posted:no comments on the State of the Union? “That’s it?!” Seemed to end very quickly after spending forever on XCode cloud that we will likely never, ever use. I’m disappointed that there still does not seem to be collection views for SwiftUI. The Metal people always seem to be very, very on the ball. Lots of documentation, lots to talk about, lots of sessions, plenty of sample code. Wish I knew where to dive in. RealityKit finally has good an useful features after last year’s non-update of “video textures and we will see y’all next year.”
