is this why you never hear about snakes up at the north pole (because of the slippy ice)

Aardvark! posted:is this why you never hear about snakes up at the north pole (because of the slippy ice) snakes' body temperature gets colder or warmer with the ambient temperature and this translates to just plum freezing to death if it's cold enough, which is the real reason you won't see them near the north pole (at least until the ice caps melt anyway). so when its too cold they go underground and into some weird kind of hibernation where they're not quite asleep but still very sluggish so if there's a warm day they can maybe get some water out of the snow have a video about it, the snake travels across the snow probably the same way they'd travel across ice and definitely the same way desert snakes travel across sand https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqJrQXVLeek e: this one is of a snake going across ice veeeeeeeeerrrrrrry sllllllloooooooooooowly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCHvj78zx3M Ignatius M. There’s one black snake who got real smart and lives in one of the rodent bait boxes I service. He just lets the rats come to him.

A lot of molluscs only have one foot - barnacles, limpets, anemones etc. One leg is plenty if you live in water. Sea snakes are fun to watch. They move through water they same way they move on the ground, which seems like it shouldn't work or is cheating somehow.
