I appreciate the *nix responses, but really I'm looking for things you'd install on a laptop and not a VPS or AWS instance.

Alright, I'm going to level with you guys. I installed linux too. I've got a lot of different projects so feel free to laff.

debian build-essentials
htop
screen
emacs w/o X
irssi
mocp
finch
mutt
cmake
everything that normally comes with python as a binary tarball.
code::blocks
build-deps for konsole (installs qt build profiles)
QT Creator
esp32-sdk, nrf-sdk, esp8266-sdk,
arm toolchain

I've got degenerate hobbies, because none of this stuff is for work.

I used it to get the instrumental version of the oxenfurt music from Witcher 3 so I can have it as background music during my day. The OST version has some terrible singing over it. It’s criminally bad so using youtube-dl to get the other version is like a reverse crime

alfred is an interesting choice. i didn’t think it was still a worthwhile install given upgrades made in mac

git apologist

it’s still good imo

clipboard history, text snippets, workflows, and fast and good file search

maybe spotlight is better at all that stuff now but i am very used to alfred, i’ve been using it for 1 years or so

That's pretty neat. What's most neat is that now we have a dataset of the least popular software to install
