i mean yeah, this game is very clearly "just more far cry" at this point and either you're bored of that formula or you're not

for what it's worth i'm planning on turning most of the hud off, taking it as slow as possible, and seeing if i can't force this game to be far cry 2 through sheer will of imagination

Does anyone know what counts as a checkpoint in this game? I'm super unclear about what will give me a fast travel point if I murder everyone in it and what won't.

FND bases are the big proper outposts, they're marked with big flags on the map as you discover them.

A good way to get checkpoints though is to build the hideout network at a campsite and buy all the hideout maps from there, each one is a fast travel point.

i always took it like it's all loosely set in a shared universe but nothing in any particular game is canon

recurring characters and references to other games are more just easter eggs than anything else

There's no universe, just because they have some nods to the other games in each one doesn't mean they're doing any kind of "shared world" or continuing storyline. It's pretty obvious they're all independently written.

Still at 300 for me and apparently now Ubi are saying the bonus credits are a mistake so who knows.

Yeah I am headshotting even "soft" targets just fine with ap rounds, really not much of an issue.

it's mostly fine but you do occasionally run into officers or whatever that take half a clip to the face to go down which is annoying when it screws up your stealth run

overall the enemies are definitely a bit spongier which i find annoying because it means i actually have to aim now and i used to enjoy blind firing ak's and throwing shovels at people and that playstyle feels a lot less viable now

Nah, I turned off enemy tags and healthbars in the hud and it's legitimately difficult to make out enemies pretty much most of the time.

If you don't have my particular brand of survival game brain worms then you could always just roll with Boomer and have auto spotted wallhacks all the time.

I actually really enjoy stealth in this game, I've stacked up a bunch of movement mods so I'm lightning fast even when crouched, zipping around bases murking dudes with throwing knives or a silenced AS VAL burst to the face.

It's definitely viable, just make sure you pack AP rounds for headshots. Boomer helps too.

You can also just use a silenced sniper and clear out entire bases without ever stepping inside but that's cheating imo.

I kinda like that it forces you to make trade offs in order to get a build you like, as opposed to just being able to do everything all the time. Also you can stack the same perk on different pieces of gear, in case you ever wanted to up your move speed to doom guy level velocities.

Also just discovered you can get EMP arrows if anyone is looking for an easy way to take down helicopters.

I just didn't really like that gun. Doesn't it have a limited range too so the helicopter can easily be out of range? Or is that not the case?

Aiming down sights seems to increase the range quite a lot but I generally prefer a grenade launcher or bow with EMP ammo instead.

What launcher is that exactly? I don't think I have a grenade launcher, just an RPG which is pretty much totally useless and the lock on rockets one which at least can kill the strongest helicopter even if it takes a few shots.

Mostly I just use my rocket backpack and that's just fine provided I don't run into too many in a row.

You can buy an M79 that can take EMP rounds from the guerrilla garrison once you've built that, or you can get EMP arrows for either bow as well.

I generally like how they handle skills in this one, but all the grenade and sidearm takedowns should absolutely be intrinsic instead of tied to clothing because they're a lot of fun but also not universally useful enough that I can justify taking them
