Hatsune Miku is the face of possibly the largest collaborative artistic movement in the world of music. Going strong since 2007, the countless collaborators who create songs, illustrations, and videos are fans who want to be part of something they love and value: a unique indie scene. And with that, we have an introduction for what I hope will be an active thread of people posting cool new music and art they just found, or to talk about the fun videogames, or discussing live concerts, or reminiscence about their favorite classics. So talk about Miku and her Vocaloid friends, as well as the Utaites who cover the former's songs. Here's a sampler of some favorites of mine for your perusal: Hello, Planet - Live Party 2011 in SAPPORO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDbPTi1Za4g Loop Memory by Yunosuke https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Sd-FULSaFs Swimsuit by LamazeP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRzrBvOEiO8 PinocchioP - Apple dot com feat. Track 11 by くらげP is my favorite (千年の雨の終わりに). I listen to it with some frequency. I have never managed to find a copy of the actual album to buy, but the FLAC rip one goon once shared with me is one of my little treasures. Are you talking about Dead Ball Project vol 1? Which does have rudimentary "talking" between tracks, has a Christmas song, a bunch of producers working on it, and is from that era.

Hello thread. Thanks everyone for posting the occasional song. In these dark times, I still look into music to cheer me up and activate some dopamine -- and I imagine most do the same. Today (3.9) is a day to share some lesser known songs, so I picked some I rather like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQosliamOfo First, "I seek you" by Yunosuke. It's a really nice electronic piece. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVq-_qCRyfU Second, "Ame furu wa koniwa" by Treow. Sort of a pop ballad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmBIIvZNUlE Third, "This hosed-Up Wonderful World Exists For Me" by n.k, which I absolutely love the imagery and instrumental, and I even dig the (translated) lyrics. Finally, a collaboration between Utsu-P and pinocchioP, which not only combines well the sort of sound both producers are known for, but it's also got a hilarious video: Watch it, it will make your day. This is called "Gorgeous Big Conversation"

After going through the Pro playlist, my (non-mathematical) impression is that 33% is Miku, 33% is a new Virtual Singer called KAFU (可不), and 33% is everyone else. I had never heard of KAFU before, seems rather new. And this Musical Isotope Series where KAFU comes from seems to be producing other voice banks that are getting popular on their own, too. As an example, Utsu-P just released a banger of a song with SEKAI (星界) from that line: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUYGyQrPkIo Finally, AND IN VERY IMPORTANT NEWS, a Project Diva game is finally on PC , released just today! It's the most recent one, Megamix, only released previously on the Nintendo Switch.

Addendum to the above part regarding Utsu-P. Utsu-P actually produced a KAFU song last year and, oh jesus, it's amazing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lupVveArye8

Got this recommendation today on a playlist, quite neat, good bridge, neat mix of rap influences: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dy0X0pVrgSY It's by Umetora (梅とら), which I wasn't familiar with. On gaming news, it's been surprising to me how much I got into Colorful Stage AKA Project Sekai, which is not just Project Diva for mobile but its own thing. At first I was like, "who cares about any of those characters, I'm here just for the music", but months later I keep playing nearly every day to also check the story beats. I really love those characters as it turns out! And there's also quite a few good songs here that are originally written for this game. I believe it's getting rather big in Japan to the point some hobby stores now have a section to sell its specific merchandise, including the compilation albums. I assume anyone reading this probably tried the game already, but if you haven't give it a go, you'll probably like it. And you don't need to pay for anything whatsoever, which is a drat fine F2P model. Anyway, I love those two songs below so I'll leave them as highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-tESKU7zaU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKa3Bo3uqos

A bunch of popular producers posted new works recently, so that's a good enough high note for a likely final post since the thread basically ran its course. LamazeP did two more songs along with the ones above: やっちゃいましたね? (translated to "Did you do it?") RooibosTea (my favorite of the two) Utsu-P released Hidden Boss PinocchioP released 2:30 Life Remaining While DECO*27 released Zombies, which already has a ton of fanart. And Clean Tears has a trailer video for their new album of recent songs. Love most of those, hope you do as well.

It's weird to bring BRS back now, but I wouldn't oppose it. They can't make it worse than the Trigun retelling. I'll take the chance to post some music ITT now that the thread's been bumped. Do you know there's a Vocaloid 6 now? drat. Utsu-P just released a song using it, RRRRafflesia feat. 初音ミク, appropriate for the Halloween season. Similarly, PinocchioP released Killer Spider, a song also rather appropriate for the spooky season. The official Miku channel posted this song, culture by TSUMIKI: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAoY-tK1l0o With this amusing quote:There is value in music that nobody understands. Those who came before me built this free and open market, so I won’t overthink it and just selfishly create what I want to create. That is the kind of song this is. I hope that this song will be the culture shock for people who are coming in to the scene in the future. LamazeP finished a 13 song marathon that ran for over a month until the anniversary on Aug 31 with this one. 八王子P and kz(livetune) did a collaboration putting out Glimmer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdQf_ac0fNk And DECO*27 posted a Project Sekai / Colorful Stage song for its second anniversary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTekXS9d-no That game is still going strong and continues to be super fun, though it now tends to crash my 2017 iPad with memory leaks.
