My favourite sketch from season 2 is the insider trading trial one that closes episode 3, especially this line/moment:

"And then I swear to loving God, he tried to roll the hat down his arm like Fred Astaire, but the backflap got trapped around Rick's wheelchair"

The only problem with this show is that there's too little of it. Before you know it, you've watched the whole season.

I haven't seen season 1 since it came out, but I feel like I'm going to love rewatching it just as much once I'm done with S2. What a magical show.

I came to say this is the best sketch show out there right now, and I'm glad Mike Obrien was in one of them. I wanted these two to make something together and it did not disappoint.

I think I cried laughing at least 4 times watching the new season. That's insane. When he got into makeup as the old man and was just stuck standing there getting mad and screaming, I was dying. I had a hard time breathing in I was laughing so hard. I was about to go out like the weasels in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Don't worry thread, I lived. Show good.

The delivery of this was so good. I also loved “Let’s SLOP EM UP!!!!!!!!” and of course the really upset “I’m not trying to make anyone have their worst day at work, but…..do any of these…..fuckers…..” section.

Also “I can’t even watch a movie anymore without a big pour of wine!…..and popcorn!!”

BEST RECOMMENDATIONS IF YOU LOVE THIS SHOW (IE IF YOU’RE NOT A HORRIBLE PERSON)

- Tim Robinson’s episode of ‘The Characters’, an anthology thing where Netflix basically gave a few comedians 30 minutes to do some sketches. It’s the seventh episode and is basically just like having another couple episodes of this show

- Detroiters, a show co-created by and starring Tim and Sam Richardson (his irl best friend who has played the pageant judges in both seasons of ITYSL as well as been in various other things) that ran for two seasons on Comedy Central in 2017-18. They play creatives at their own ad agency who make low-budget TV commercials and it has a lot of the same energy and is just really funny and good

Robinson did one season as a "featured player" on SNL, and he didn't really fit in and was apparently pretty dissatisfied with it. I was reading a Vulture profile on him and Sam Richardson (I think) said that Tim is one of the most confident comedians he knows but he was just utterly despondent and insecure about performing on SNL. He's the first person to ever go from featured player to writing room, which worked out great because that's where he met Zach Kanin.

I mean it makes sense, his comedy style is utterly contrary to SNL. I would also say Kyle Mooney's was too, but he's adapted some of his characters to the show and they have been embracing more weird comedy with the "cut for time" and digital short stuff, I don't think Tim ever got that chance. Some of his sketches are great, but you can definitely tell they aren't SNL house-style

Oh also it's kind of crazy to me that sweet, wholesome Aidy Bryant is married to comedy chaos demon Connor O'Malley.

Where do they get the bit players for these sketches? They're clearly not actors but something about their stilted delivery adds to the quality rather than detracts. Old guy on car focus panel would be the prime example of this, but Doug, the professor who steals the burger, etc. are all great.

I would bet most of them are actually just small time actors grinding it out. The good car idea man is! https://www.vulture.com/2019/12/i-think-you-should-leave-focus-group-oral-history.html

It really is one of those shows where I don’t think anyone will ever fully agree with someone else’s rankings. I’m not a fan of Chunky that much in the top ten, but I know a lot of people like that one.

The opening sketch to episode 1 is a favorite because of how simple it is, gets to the point and really sets up the show. It’s usually quite low on these ranks though.
