I played the hell out of Hammerfight even though I had basically no idea what was going on. Looking forwards to doing the same thing with this.

I've seen water droplets on game cameras before, but for some reason these ones look really really nice.

The issue is that in most games, the raindrops just hit an imaginary plane that's sort of floating in the air, since you don't have a physical camera ingame. It's particularly weird in first-person games where it looks like individual raindrops hit your actual retina. But here you've got an actual physical window you're looking out of, with some UI elements being on the dry inside of the window, so the droplets actually make sense ingame.

Digging through the game files, it fortunately does seem like very nearly everything is just saved in simple plaintext. I haven't had the time yet to actually experiment, but from the looks of the files it seems quite possible to just mod them to, say, cut fuel consumption in half across the board.

After playing a bit more, I do have to agree that the UI battle effects are a bit much. If it were just the bullet holes, that'd be one thing. But when it's combined with fat raindrops, clouds passing in front of ships, lightning loving with the contrast, and your entire HUD just kinda jumping to the left occasionally, it starts to feel like you're fighting the game more than you're fighting the actual enemy.

I may be dumb, but how do you refill consumables like anti-ship missiles or flares? They don't seem to show up in the ammo section of the supply shop. Do you literally have to buy a new component in the shipyard each time?

Also lmao do not ever take the event choice that asks you to stay in a town for two full days for some rescue mission. It got me murdered by a million cruise missiles :v:

I noticed the clock sometimes turns red in the prologue. Does anyone know why?

It seems to happen when docked in cities, or sometimes on approach to fighting at a city.

I think that means you're running the risk of your position being reported. Parking in liberated cities for too long will have that happen, and also entering the red area around a hostile city. If you stay in there for too long, you'll end up with strike groups being diverted to your location.

Wow, y'all weren't kidding about the Lightning. That thing is murder on thrusters, even if it leads to me spending half the battle in black screen :allears:.

Also, is there a good/reliable way of gauging a city's defenses before you commit a task force to attack it? I just kinda keep throwing ships in there hoping for the best, but it's slightly unnerving to not know whether you'll face a couple aux corvettes or a several cruisers with escorts.

The borderless window mode is a godsend. That was really one of my main annoyances about this game. Adjustable glitches and improved crosshairs are just the cherry on top.
