:siren: NO SPOILERS FOR THE NEW GAME BEFORE RELEASE! KEEP MAJOR SPOILERS FOR BOTH GAMES IN SPOILER BOXES :siren:
:siren: Download the demo to play the first two days and carry over progress into the main game:siren:

The Story
After almost 15 years of waiting with a lot of teases in that time the sequel to The World Ends With You is finally releasing on July 27 2021 for Switch and PS4. Taking place 3 years after the end of the first game we get put in the shoes of Rindo Kanade as he and his best friend Tosai "Fret" Furesawa have been thrust into Shibuya's Reaper Game a 7 day survival game in which only the First Place winners at the end of the week are allowed to stop playing. Forming the team Rindo's Group The Wicked Twisters, he and his friends now have to survive this 'game' and at same time figure out its secrets.

The gameplay
Gameplay is like any RPG composed of running around on the map and fighting encounters when you choose to. Combat is against Noise monsters formed of negative emotions and consists of using Psychs as represented by various types of "Pins" with one Psych per person on your team to defeat them. There are numerous types of Pins each with its own Psych so choose the ones that fit your style the best!.

The Characters
Character Summaries ]taken from the Square Enix Press Kit

Rindo (English VA Paul Castro Jr.):

One of the newest Players in the Reapers’ Game, Rindo is a
high schooler to whom searching for info on his phone is
second nature. He prefers to go with the flow, and although he
doesn’t go out of his way to interact with others, he won’t turn
them away if they come to him first.
Thrust into the Game without even realizing it, he now serves
as the de facto leader of the Wicked Twisters.

Fret (English VA: Griffin Burns)

Rindo’s happy-go-lucky classmate and fellow Player in the Reapers’
Game, Fret boasts the ability to get along with just about anyone.
While he styles himself as a natural conversationalist, he prefers to
keep things light, subconsciously avoiding subjects that are too
serious. He enjoys walking around town with his buddy “Rindude.”

Nagi(English VA: Miranda Parkin)

Another Player in the Reapers’ Game, Nagi is a college student
whose youthful appearance leads others to mistake her for a
middle schooler. She is deeply passionate about her pastimes,
devoting all of her time and energy to her favorite games. Highly
perceptive, she is acutely aware of others’ emotions, and shows
disdain toward those she deems superficial and disingenuous.

Sho Minamimoto (English VA: Andy Hirsch)

A fellow Player in the Reapers’ Game, Minamimoto puts his impressive
psychic powers to use when he saves Rindo and the gang from a tight
spot early on, then forces himself onto their team.
He calculates every possible future using his own unique formulas and
acts in accordance with the values he discovers, but he remains a
mystery to all around him. He seems to have his sights set on something
greater than Rindo and the gang

Frequently Asked Questions

What version of the first game should I play
The previous game in its original form came out on the ds but it has been remade for both mobile phones and the switch. Its generally agreed that the best way to play the game is on an actual DS/3DS due to its unique touch based dual screen combat. However that is kind of unreasonable so if you would rather have it on a modern console get it on either mobile or Switch. The only difference is that the switch has a small scenario that serves as a sequel hook for this game. While I recommend playing any version you have access it should be noted that the Switch Port is best played in handheld style using its touch screen since the tv mode controls are motion based and personally I find them very unintuitive.

I don't have any of those platforms/I don't have time to play a whole another game
While I haven't watched it from what I have heard the anime adaption of The World Ends With You that recently aired is a pretty good adaption of its story and should allow you to catch up without playing the game. Its is available on Hulu and Funimation's streaming services.

I heard that the game leaked early/Spoiler Policy
While the Switch version of the game was accidentally made available to those who ordered the physical version from Square Enix's Offical Store please do not talk about anything that is not available in the demo or in press materials until the game actually comes out. Once it does please keep major spoilers in spoiler boxes

Let me know if I should add anything or change anything this is my first proper thread.

So I was one of the few who were lucky enough to get it early thanks to the Square Enix error and they have definitely nailed the tone and feel of the first game with this one even though it has been 15 years since the first one came out. It also is a game that so far seems to be able to stand on its own feet while knowledge definitely helps and in some cases make the mystery deeper due to the difference between games thanks to Rindo and Fret being completely newcomers to the Reapers game.

This is probably all I will say about the game until release but if anyone wants non spoiler info like how food and clothes work or other mechanical stuff let me know and I can make a small effort post about them. I am just really excited for the game to finally officially launch and be able to talk about it with other people.

Couple questions:

-Are getting past the Reaper walls less annoying than some of them were in the original?

-How do the different pins work when attacking is just a simple button press this time around?

-I assume like the first game the story doesn’t end after the first week?

-Does Tin Pin make a return?

-Do all the major characters from the first game make a reappearance in the sequel (a simple yes or no will do for this one)?

While I never had a problem with the reaper walls in the original from what I can tell its mostly Noise erasing tasks and while this might just be an opinion it feels like most roadblocks actualyl have character dialogue and aren't just Want past this wall here's what to do conversations.

In general Pins are assigned to buttons based on what they do for example most if not all of the close combat slashing attacks are assigned to the x button while shooting bullets are assigned to the Y button (on the switch). I haven't unlocked the use more than one pin per button so I don't know how that will work. While there are a few dud pins most are useful. The only thing I have a problem with is that pins that only heal are pretty much useless because since there is one pin per character in the party using a healing pin with limited uses which most are gives the enemies an open target once used if that makes sense.

Yes though there is much more content per day and thus it isn't as obvious that there is going to be another week because the game is to short type thing

I don't know fully but I doubt it since it hasn't been mentioned in game beyond maybe a couple of thought scans I might have missed.

Short answer is Yes for characters
Long answer for characters While I haven't beaten the game yet the way the story is going I would say that all the characters you would expect from the first game will probably show up though I am not as certain that two of them will actually appear in person and not just as references

Honestly the only problem I have with the game is that there is no fast travel system since the city is much more open than the first game. Pretty much once an area appears in the plot it is accessible on most if not all days so traveling around gets a bit tedious.

True. As I said, it looks like the rules have changed a bit this time around

Speaking of which, I forget but was it ever explained why Joshua decided to enter his own Game?

Also if Josh is the Composer and Megumi the Conductor, what exactly does that make Hanekoma?

Pretty sure that Hanekoma's title is Producer and is revealed in the first games secret reports

Basically each character you have equips a single pin and this determines what button controls them and what psych they use when pushing buttons. In general each button available (on switch x,y,l,r,zl,zr) has a specific set of types of psych that are available on that button ie x tends to be melee psyches like swords and y tends to be projectile psyches like bullets. You can press multiple buttons at once to use multiple attacks but any character that you either are controlling or who are using their psych will not try to dodge enemy attacks like they will when they are controlled by the ai. Each pin has a condition that triggers the drop a beat meter which means that when you hit the enemy that has that meter with a psych did not trigger it will increase your sync gauge by an amount which at 100% allows you to use sync attacks based on the element of the last psych that increased the sync gauge even if the sync gauge was capped. Your sync attacks also gets a damage multiplier based on I think how many party members used their psych since the last sync attack.

From what I can tell all characters mechanically are the same so getting a new character is effectively the same as getting a new pin slot in the first game.

Thanks. Also for anyone who got the game early, does the game ever get challenging at some point? I pretty much breezed my way through the demo (though the Day 2 boss was kind of annoying) and it seems like once you get the hang of things you can basically decimate foes faster than they can even make a significant dent in your HP.

Also can you get healing pins in this game at some point? If so, how do they work in the new combat system?

It definitely gets harder and I have gotten a game over a couple of time mostly against bosses though there is one enemy type that I find really annoying to fight that has killed me a couple of times in chains. There are healing pins in this game however they are much rarer especially the ones that aren't limited in use. They work like any other pin but the problem with them is the the ones that only heal (instead of healing with damage) are kind of useless to me so far since once their charges are used up the character that equipped it is basically a sitting duck.

Please take any major spoilers like this to PMs with the game not being out for a week I would rather not have major/postgame spoilers be on the first page even if they are spoiler boxed.

For those of you have have it preloaded it looks like there is a day one patch that was just released so you might want to make sure you have it downloaded if you want to play as soon as it unlocks

Drashin
Feb 26, 2013
For the patch make sure your version number is 1.01. As for the difficulty you get access to it on if I recall correctly the fourth day when you unlock side quests you can get both Easy and Hard unlocked though Ultimate is probably postgame again. I also found another change that the patch has done (spoiler for a later party member and their ability) Before the patch every time you teleported it showed a flash of the character activating the ability but now once you do it the first time every subsequent one you just teleport.

Anyone have any tips on how to defeat the secret boss Super Sho in another day? Even info about his mechanics would be good since he pretty much just instagibs me even on normal.

So gameplay question: is there some penalty for wearing threads you don’t have the Style for?

You don't get the benefits of the ability only the stats if you don't have enough style for it.

Speaking of, is there anything else to do in Another Day or is it mostly just a boss rush?

Its pretty much the same as the version of it in the first game though it has Harder versions of four bosses and a super difficult dive as well as the bonus boss
