god I love slugs I went out to the glades today and all of the animals regarded me with intense suspicion, which made it difficult to get good pictures of them   aww, it's okay if you want to stare at me, though.  sorry I moved your log

didn't dare to get close enough to tell but my best guess is this was a tree sap leak  carrion beetles, wasps, dozens of horseflies, and one butterfly wandering in like the only femme in the biker bar
