About time you cleaned out your fridge (content) This little guy was wandering around the beach in South Carolina a day after a heavy coastal storm tore up the beach. He must have been fairly discombobulated to allow me to get this close. PainterofCrap fucked around with this message at 02:36 on Aug 20, 2022 |

I have a car refurbishment thread in AI. While I was at a salvage yard in the Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey, near the village of Waterford Works) pulling parts, we found this 1950s tow truck with a large and active honeybee nest in the gas tank. https://i.imgur.com/OIUij2y.mp4 There's sound - the windy noise is the hive humming. It was very loud but didn't pick up well on the mic. The louder sound is me nearly tripping over a hood while backing up. They were very chill

I love orb weavers! Have them all over the property, especially this time of year. They eats lots of mosquitoes. Here's my son helping to get a nighttime shot a few years back. Web was nearly three feet across This green boi helped supervise the building of my garage in 2004:

The bad news: a possum expired on the street in front of my house last Tuesday. The good news: The streets dept. removed the entire carcass within an hour. The streets dept: https://i.imgur.com/dXhnFNI.mp4 We have tons & tons of turkey vultures in south Jersey. It's hard to describe just how large a bird they are; it always surprises me when I see one up close. This guy was joined a short time later by a buddy. The made extremely short work of the poor guy.

Was the dove OK? I have had this happen on three occasions. On the two unprompted ones: one survived. The third was being chased by a sharp-shinned hawk. Hawk swerved; the dove didn't, so hawk was enjoying a leisurely meal under my window

They like to dig. Through your furniture. Through your floors. They also push your poo poo around like a tiny bulldozer. There's a This American Life episode about a guy who wound up stuck with a deceased friend or family member's pet armadillo. They are a trip.

I love house centipedes but they always trigger a startle response because: a) Their hairiness makes them look 2-3 times larger than they actually are because b) Always initially seen out of the corner of my eye moving at 100-MPH

I hung out four suet cages on my trees. One has disappeared completely. The one had a squirrel hanging off of it. So I moved two of the cages into a hawthorn. Little fuckers got up there & sprung the cover. Goddamned tree rats.

Test E: wow; that's huge aaannnd it turns out that I've had an Imgur account at least a decade, and had four photos in it from 2012... I have resurrected it for future use. I assume that all of the images I've uploaded will be purged, since they weren't done after I was logged in. PainterofCrap fucked around with this message at 23:59 on Apr 25, 2023 |

Somebody mention large amounts of filth? I had a loss down in Ocean City NJ some time ago - suspected rodents in the ductwork. One thing about the coast: the wind is always blowing. So when I removed the inspection plate on the furnace I got a face full of nasty. After retching for a bit and cleaning up my face as best I could, I stuck my camera in the opening: Raccoons.

How often do you change out the feeders? Our honeysuckle died and until we replace it, the birds will stay away IIRC the nectar can't be left for long before it harms them.

That is a squooshy raptor so it's very hard to tell, but if those are in fact russet chevrons on the chest, and tail has horizontal stripes, then I vote Sharp-Shinned Hawk also

We have a cardinal nesting in the camellia outside of our laundry room window! She laid 2-eggs... Which hatched - not sure how long ago, we've been in & out of town a lot the past few weeks Mom & Dad were getting freaked out whenever the hairy apes got too close (to the dryer). So I bought a couple of cheap auto sun-shades to try & give everyone a little privacy. Dad visited but didn't get any closer. Dill was chittering away on his stool https://i.imgur.com/MrKLK2r.mp4 The little ones are very active, struggling to be fed whenever a breeze blows a leaf. Go Mom!
