I think Mahomes was pulled so fast because he may still be recovering from the turf toe surgery

He (Mahomes) claims everything's fine and been cleared there and said it like a month ago. I mean...he would say that, but for what it's worth.

Ah that’s good, I have read that it can be a troublesome injury so whew.

My worry for the season is Mecole Hardman. I don’t think he can get open without scheme help. My main excitement is the DL rotation

kiimo
Jul 24, 2003

He can get separation, his route running has improved as well.

My problem is it is really tough to digest all the camp fluff nonsense about how he has a really mature and improved attitude when it doesn't change the fact that he doesn't Catch The loving Ball®

Rookies First game vs Seahawks

Leatherwood RT was mostly fine, but whiffed on a passblock by blocking the wrong guy

Tre'von Moerhig FS wasn't tested

Nate Hobbs CB (guy that killed geno) probably earned his way to starting slot CB

Andre James isn't a rookie, but he's the Center now that Hudson was traded and has two pancake blocks

Defense didn't look confused at any level which is a good sign that Gus Bradley's D is installed correctly Hopefully. Having the same offense in place for years is refreshing and novel

Speaking of rookies in this video the guy on the right is Trey Smith. Trey Smith is 6’5” / 330 lbs

I was pleasantly surprised by the preseason game. Williams in particular was impressive in his short debut. Hopefully he'll get more and more reps and quickly replace Gordon!

I tried hard to get him in dynasty to go along with my Jeudy. If Denver ever finds a QB they're going to be dangerous.

Oooo I've got one too

quote:

The first player on this list has to be second-year interior defender Tershawn Wharton, who looked like the best player on the field at times. Wharton was creating consistent pressure, recording four pressures and a sack over 15 pass rushes according to Pro Football Focus (PFF) in addition to a 94.0 PFF grade, which was the highest grade of the game and the highest grade for any defensive lineman in the NFL in the preseason so far. If Wharton can keep this up at all in the final two games of the preseason, he should get a strong consideration to start on the defensive line along with Chris Jones, Frank Clark and either Derrick Nnadi or Jarran Reed.

I can't believe that Wharton was an UDFA.

I can't believe Trey Smith was a sixth round draft pick.

I can't believe Sneed was a fourth rounder.

I can't believe the Chiefs got Harrison Butker from another team's scrap heap, along with two first round corners in DeAndre Baker and Mike Hughes that other teams had given up on.

It is very nice to have a GM that is good at scouting finally

Chargers and Chiefs fans seem very happy this offseason.

Denver and Raiders fans are quieter than normal

It's not all optimism though. That TE the Chiefs traded up for Noah Gray didn't do poo poo and Mecole Hardman is as frustrating as always. Those are minor gripes though.

What did the Raiders do for defense this offseason anyway?

Feels like there's so little to post about Denver because they're pretty much the same team of the past two seasons. We know what to expect. At this point I pray for at least one good divisional spoiler and I'll be content.

Signed Gus Bradley, added pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue who is good at rushing the pass (and that's about it), got Tanner Muse back from IR who will act as Bruce Irvin in the Gus Seattle D, Hugely Upgraded at FS with Tre'von Moerhig which allows Jonathan Abram to play closer to the line and not play babysitter for a garbage FS, beefed up the Dline with more depth than we've had in a long time, and have competent LBs playing in a defense that utilizes their strengths, Nate Hobbs will probably take the slot CB spot by week 1

The talent isn't very high ceiling, but the floor is much higher. Should be much improved

There were enough roster changes that I'm not sure what to expect so just kinda  until the regular season.

Offense should be fine but the new line is a wild card. It's been mostly fine from what I've followed so cautiously optimistic it'll be fine.

Defense is where it's totally :iiam: but hard to get any worse, so uh, yay I guess? Seems to be some positive reports out of camp and such but I'll wait and see till they show they can be consistently better.

I still think we should be excited and hopeful but pump the brakes a little bit. He got embarrassed on the previous rep, then embarrassed Chris the next one. If it's 50/50 that's what losing looks like if your an offensive lineman.

e: I should note that being a human being who is capable of doing that to Chris Jones is pretty special no matter what. I just worry that he's not quite there yet.
