They lured the CYBER EXPERTS with promises of old already-analyzed data, then dumped a bunch of new and more complicated data on them instead so they couldn't draw any firm conclusion beyond "there's too much data, we couldn't analyze it in the time given". What did Lindell think was going to happen at this thing? Surely he knew he didn’t have anything and it was going to go badly. Even if he’s amazingly delusional (which he is) he knows the difference between “bad evidence” and “no evidence” right? Like, he didn’t even try to show anything showing what he was claiming, just had a bunch more speculation.

I imagine it's the equivalent of having a huge prayer gathering on the night you believe the Rapture is about to happen. You don't expect to change the outcome of anything, but you want to do one last bit of performative piety to show God how much you love him.

Lindell was putting on a prayer rally to show Trump how much he loved him shortly before Trump's messianic return to the presidency.

I'm guessing since he got one of those (illegally obtained) images of the voting machines he, in a probably coked out trance, thought he had struck loving gold. He likely also has a ton of leeches telling him he can do no wrong for cash as well.

If Trump has shown us anything, it's that the only way through is to double-down and refuse to admit you made a mistake. He probably reached a point months ago where he realized that there was no fraud and that Trump wasn't coming back, but he was already in too deep and knew that his audience would eat him alive if he did anything but this. Or maybe he always knew it was bullshit but realized months later that he crossed a line in his public performances and would be facing real consequences. There's probably some magical thinking going on too, either "maybe they'll let me off in court if I never give a sense that I know I'm lying" or "Trump will save me somehow."

Yeah, this is how I see it. Lindell is a true believer; a grifter wouldn't pull his company's ads from Fox News for not being Trumpy enough. My guess is that he figured some respected expert would show up at the Cyber Symposium and think "My God, there really is something here!!!" and then do all the real legwork to prove that Trump actually won.

There also could be an element of "I know in my heart there was fraud, but if other people need more to be convinced then by god I'll have something to show them". If it's all a show and you don't believe evidence is really necessary, you care more about the appearance of smoke than finding any actual fire.

Lindell is a boomer (late boomer actually, he's only 60 but looks older) that knows nothing about computers. Jimmy Kimmel asked what the IP in IP address stood for and he had no idea. So I think he got taken for a ride by his various computer consultants who took his money and told him what he wanted to hear. Who knows how much he paid Dennis Montgomery for the scam data?

I don't know if it's hit you yet but fash are really, really bad at long-term plans and value "gut instinct" to levels that are beyond parody.

Lindell thought that if he brought enough people who believed the same bullshit as he did to the same spot some sort of revolutionary movement would spark because of all of the energy. It never occurred to him that he might fail and be humiliated.

You have to remember that "fact checking" has a different meaning to chuds. It doesn't mean verifying sources for accuracy, it means censoring the truth that THEY don't want you to know about. The first and actual definition doesn't even enter their minds.

Truth is something you feel in your gut, facts are just what you use to weave the the story that you already know is true.

Fact checkers are obsessed with meaningless factual accuracy because they want to obscure the truth. It doesn't matter if there's evidence Biden stole the election, we all "know" that he's an illegitimate president. It doesn't matter if the inpsectors find WMDs in Iraq, we all "know" Saddam is a threat to America, we can feel it. The people insisting on checking every fact are trying to trick and confuse us and make us doubt the stories we all know are true because we can feel them.
