What kind of things do tugboats tug? I've seen a tugboat tug a not tugboat boat. Do they tug anything else? How much tug would a tugboat tug, if a tugboat could tug tug?

there are river barges made with a notch in the back and a tugboat plugs in and is their engines upstream they don't need them going downstream
