Donald Duck actually sold so poorly in my country, Norway, that it was cancelled. The big sellers now are comic strips and YA fantasy.

You should try reading european comics. Since Thorgal, for example, started in 1977 there's been released 37 albums. If X-Men was an european comics we wouldn't even be past the Dark Phoenix story line.

In a kind of monkey's paw situation many french comic gets translated in Scandinavia but almost no american comics is.
