Congrats to Feces for winning the Elite Goonship. No one was ever really able to match the skill. Hopefully you can do better in the Series Goon. Also I am glad to be reunited with Divine Coffee and his Coffee boys in the Goonship.

My DV was... mostly good. One youth did well, one youth is getting tossed into oblivion, one might be ok.

I got 20 points which is really good for the top flight, but still way far off the podium.

I think I've managed to thread the needle on pumping enough DV into my youth without getting relegated, so I'm pretty happy. Even managed to get the reserve keeper a run, hopefully he develops a bit before Cardell inevitably dies of a midseason heart attack.

Posting here to index how fantastically disappointed I'll be in a few days when the CR comes out.

...Yeah, alright. Could have used a double on the youth or a visible bump in the older midfielders, but I'll take that.

It was a mediocre change report for me. 2 guys I thought would jump didn't and no double jumps. I still think my team will be good enough to compete in the top division and were still pretty young with room to grow.

It feels good to get one against the Coffee Beans. I am once again in the position of being top of the league, but I still realize the skill gap between my team and the Series Goon is vast.

The elite Goonship feels a lot like the Championship of English Football. It is super competitive, but the top teams in this tier are league below the middling teams of the series Goon. Most of the people don't want to be promoted.

I would like to propose the two tiers be combined. We have had trouble attracting people. Combing the three leagues would allow for more competition and fun.

If we advertise in the Football Funhaus we may get more cannon fodder/new blood. Especially since the European seasons are starting in the next few weeks. Good those teams a few million extra isk to play with and it can level the playing field. I enjoy the game as an online distraction and hope we can continue growing the league.

What are people's thoughts are this?

I’m all for anything that keeps it fun and competitive! My team (FC Rimmers) have the youngsters I got at the start aged in, couple of good youth prospects and are finally set to maybe win a couple games!

Sorry if I've been kind of out of it as far as updating the thread and such, these days I sometimes find myself remembering to set tactics about 10 minutes before the match. It looks like I just clinched the title though, hurray me! I think that's mostly because my players are all at their prime ages now, 25-29. I probably have another 3 or 4 seasons left in me until I have to refocus on a younger squad.

We're currently down to 17 active teams so there will need to be some kind of restructure. I'm open to longer seasons with bigger divisions, it could make things interesting and if you think about it, it actually gives the lesser-performing teams an advantage in youth development so IMO it encourages more competition in the long term. Also if anyone has a desire to take over as league admin and try to drive more life into the league then that would be cool with me, just let me know, I was not the original admin/OP after all.

Negative, I still have a chance at the title (please do not win any more games bees)

This season was slightly annoying for me because I went 3-0-1 against the top two teams and then I drew like four games I should have been able to win, argh.

RIP.

Every time I get promoted I just get stomped the next season. I'm doing a somewhat significant rebuild atm and still managed to stomp most of the next league down. There's a pretty huge gap between the two and there are a few teams that just get churned between the two with the stomp seasons hindering growth to the point that we can't actually get a foothold. If we don't mix up the league I'm probably going to have to intentionally blow up my team even more to avoid promotion.

On the bright side my 16, 17, and 18 year olds I picked up this season are all +8.

I personally like longer seasons so injury RNG has less of a chance to screw DV. Not that I really understand how DV works in regards to length of season anyways, but my team in the official league with much longer seasons has almost no problems with DV, yet I struggle with it every season in our league, even with only 16 players.

Any tips on how to build up money for my pro league team? Seems like you probably can't build a team and have it advance naturally (I'm 27 tiers down from the top league). Does it really come to farming up a few hundred million before you start making a push so you can buy players good enough to compete?

In the official leagues, due to the length of the seasons, it's a good idea to set your youth academy to 300k. This can be hit or miss, I went for a few months getting nothing but 17/4s and 18/5s but then I think they tweaked the code a bit and I've been getting a lot of good recruits: since this time last year I've had 3x 17/5s, 2x 16/4s and one 16/5.

The best way to make money is to buy youth players and then sell them immediately after they get a double-jump. Try not to spend too much money but also try not to settle for mediocre youth players, 16/4s and 17/5s are good for this as long as you don't overspend.

You don't need to farm hundreds of millions but you should probably have at least 15-25 mil in the bank when you start making a go at it. The super tryhard players use non-stop form training so if that's you then 15-25 mil won't be enough. If you look at the teams in the top leagues, you can see their individual players' histories, from what I've seen most of their players started as 16/4 or 17/5 and have had 2 or 3 double jumps by the time they're 28. So with some luck from the youth academy, you could get to a place like that naturally over time.

Oh hey mini thread revival!

I managed to avoid Dalstr's parked bus today, and my chance at my first ever title comes down to if I can win on Sunday. Time to roll out fat sacks of money again.

In development news, I found a nice 19/6 hard trainer/header specialist at a bargain. Sadly, he's fragile and immediately fell over and exploded in his first full game.

You deserve to win this season, Pigs would need you to lose and we'd need to win our match by a +4 goal differential. Tempted to just run out all the youth players in the last fixture but am going to go full strength and keep the chances of a miracle alive.

Look, I might have spent 2.2 million on win bonuses in the past 3 games but it was worth it. Feels good to get a new name on that list of title winners, especially since I never won a title in the old good league. Thank you for the kind words and a fun season, it was neck and neck till the very end!

Still improving, though starting to hit the peak. What you'd expect for a result oriented season. Malcolm is coming along fine, at least.
