Close family in one state had a surge of cases at their workplace. The mom got a covid test that came back negative, so she took her and the children to visit grandma in another state. Grandma works in a hospital with a surge of cases with staff. All of them now have covid, and we don't even know which state it came from lmao.

So one of my kids tested positive and I tested positive but my two other kids tested negative. We’ve been trying to isolate from each other but you can only really do so much and the whole house has been quarantined. I received a call from one of my kid’s school saying he has an unexcused absence. We had sent a mail about the covid status Sunday night and figured all was good.

I explained the situation and they ask his covid test status, which is negative. Well that’s all they wanted to hear. With a negative test and being vaccinated he has no excuse and will be docked as having an unexcused absence.

Absurd policies like this is one of the many, many reasons we’re doomed.

My retail company stopped giving any extra time off for covid after the federal money ran out for keeping employees home. Now it counts against you as an absence lmao.

If you want a booster just go into Rite Aid and say you qualify, without being specific. No appointment necessary. They won't fight you and they'll write it in on your existing vaccine card (and give you a second card too for some reason).

I will try that next, thanks! I just got denied at a Safeway pharmacy because I "do not qualify" and that I could try again once I hit my official 8 months. They would rather dump the vaccine down the drain than give me a third shot.

At my store there is maybe 1 person out of 1000 that doesn't wear a mask, and when I tell them it's required.. they all get one. I've had maybe 2 people in the last few months get upset and leave, out of the tens of thousands of customers.

I said this before. Collapse isn't collapse. You can say hospitals are collapsing because people that need care aren't getting it, and that's a reasonable definition of collapse, but hospitals are still there and still providing care...and that's a reasonable definition of not collapsed. My prediction is that hospitals will skate forever along the very edge of the precipice. Most of the people in this thread will be convinced that they're going to fall off at any moment, but they never will. There will never be the catharsis of being able to point and say "Look, they collapsed," and have people universally accept that statement as truth. A lot of people will die who didn't need to, and nobody will care.

That's the key to collapse versus not collapse, whether people care. If nobody cares, it isn't collapse, regardless of how bad things get materially. And I guarantee, nobody is going to care.

We'll just blame the people that die for having prior health conditions as if that makes it okay for them to now be dead.
