I'm pretty sure the thread that showed me which mods made that amazing game able to be amazing all these years later was by him. Never talked to him, but he's one of those guys out there who do the extra work that makes the extra fun possible. Sorry to hear about his passing, If there were ever a man canonized into the 3rd Street Saints, it is Idolninja.

drat. Idolninja and his work meant a lot to me. I remember getting super excited when I found out he would be working for Volition. I pretty regularly attended the streams that Chip would organize for volition, and always enjoyed his presence in them. Rest in peace, man.

If they didn't already name them in reference to all of the good will he's generated over the years and how important he is to the community, I can guarantee you now they're definitely working out a way to work in a tribute.

I posted in the SR2 thread here about trying to run the game + GOTR on the weird-rear end dual GPU gaming laptop I was using at the time. Idolninja reached out asking for crash logs and pretty soon after released a patch for GOTR that addressed my incredibly niche issue. Super, super generous guy. gently caress cancer. R.I.P.

Saints Row 2 is one of the best games ever made in spite of it's substantial technical problems, idolninja was smart enough to to recognize that and help whip it back into shape so people in the future could experience the joy of spraying people with raw sewage. RIP

Holy loving poo poo. I still can't believe this. Posted in the SR2 thread as a regular. IdolNinja was basically our Saints community leader. It was amazing to see him live out his dream of getting hired by Volition after all of his hard work on SR2 Gentlemen of the Row mod. Wow. I just found out and it's utterly shocking. Rest in peace.

Hold on, I just realised. One of the admins needs to lock IdolNinja's account so it doesn't get taken over by hackers, that's something that we usually do when somebody passes.

It was so cool to hear that he was hired by Volition and got to be part of the series he cared so much about that way. I hope his work lives on.

Not to downplay his tremendous achievements with his Gentleman of the Row mod, but what gets me the most about him is the sheer volume of accounts I've seen on here, twitter and other forums where anyone reporting having any trouble with literally anything basically had a 9/10 chance of summoning him to directly to you to take the time to personally walk you through whatever issue you were having at length. That is such an unheard of quality and speaks to what a genuinely nice, caring person he was as well as his dedication and passion to just being excited about people playing a great game. RIP.

I don't know that I ever interacted with him in more than a passing way, but I certainly know his work, and I was desperately looking forward to the ultimate official fix of SR2 PC that he was working on. I know that's still happening, but geez, thinking of it with no IdolNinja there anymore... loving cancer. gently caress.

In the back of my mind I've always wondered how his SR2 work was going, ever since years ago when I first played GotR before he got hired by Volition. I knew he was hired, I knew he was working on fixing the PC port, and I was hopeful one day he'd get to release it to fanfare and applause. He just seemed like the nicest dude. Even when he said he had terminal cancer, it just didn't really occur to me that he would pass, you know? He was a true boss.
