I've often seen young people cover themselves in mud to reduce their infrared signature, then assault me with primitive log traps. It's bewildering.

I don't get how Minecraft not only became successful with millennials but that really bland game became somehow more successful with zoomers and that's still going with gen alpha afaik stronger than ever because they don't care about fortnite like zoomers do. On the other hand I won a lot of fake bets that the graphics arms race was dumb as poo poo and contrary to what everyone believed 12 years ago no a game looking good is not a prerequisite for it to become mind-boggling successful.

Young people are generally confused when I tell them that I paid $10 to post on an Internet comedy forum populated almost entirely by middle-aged home owning computer janitors with sad brains and broken dicks. It’s like, uhhh what’s so hard to understand??

Younger generations are supposed to gawk at how cheap things used to be when we tell them what we paid back in the day. $10 in 2001 would be $15.42 in 2021. Crazy to think about. Why in the world weren't they impressed with your transaction?

The neighbour kids are digging a hole or a tunnel or something and I don't know where to or why. I mean they're using heavy excavators and there are dump trucks coming in day and night to haul the dirt away. They're walking around with hard hats, high visibility vests, and looking and blue prints and poo poo. I went over on Friday because they were working way later than usual and it was keeping me up. I finally plucked up the courage to ask them what the hole was for and they told me "it's for you, old man" and to "mind your own business grandpa" and I'm not even 40 yet, so that really hurt my feelings. I'm glad they have a hobby. It beats sneaking off to smoke pot behind the toilets in a park like I was doing when I was their age. I guess I'm just curious is all. Don't I have a right to know about the giant hole next door?

Not being normal person size. Like what's their game here? Do they not know what size people are meant to be. How do they expect to run the world one day when they don't even know what people size is???? I say kill them all and replace them with emus. They know how to be properly people sized.

Putty posted:I just recently took a beach vacation and got sunburned. I was swimming alone in the ocean hoping to get sucked off by a fish when I noticed some kids playing who were prob 12-15. They would point at big waves coming and shout something like "Fortnite!" or "DaBaby!" and "Among Us!". I'm hip! I know what a fortnite is! But what did that have to do with the waves? Was the visage of an unremarkable rapper in the ocean? Those kids were laughing and super entertained by doing this. I will probably be confused by this for the rest of my life. I have very distinct memories of hanging out at the arcade(!) when my friends and I were all too young to drive, so we would bike there, yelling random inside jokes at each other on the way. I still distinctly remember trying out different battle cries while playing air hockey, all of which were like BBS or CRPG-related. I have no doubt not a single person more than 10 years older than me had any idea what was going on, let alone for the things that only made sense within my specific group. Literally the only thing that confuses me is the return of mullets, and I have mentioned it here before. There are few things that are unambiguously bad in this life, and mullets are one of them. I have never seen anyone look presentable with a mullet outside of a cartoonish scenario (professional wrestling counts as cartoonish obviously). Elentor posted:On the other hand I won a lot of fake bets that the graphics arms race was dumb as poo poo and contrary to what everyone believed 12 years ago no a game looking good is not a prerequisite for it to become mind-boggling successful. I would have personally thought the graphics arms race was not that important just due to how many game genres never really necessitated or even really benefited from amazing graphics, but just pointing out that, you know, the Sims is one of the best-selling games of all time and looked (even then) like some weird educational game you would play at a museum should have been enough to convince those people. I am sure they still exist, of course. Maybe they think VR is the only way forward now?

Minecraft is a fun outlet for creativity, and unlike Legos you have an unlimited number of pieces to use at zero additional cost. You can even make logic gates and stuff. I think it's cool and not something to poo poo on

Never played it myself, but seems like a lot of people use it like a sort of electronic lego -which you can play with, with your friends when ever everyone's online- so it sticking around for ages makes sense if you think of it like that.
