I mean, I heard him tell a story on Maron's podcast a long time back, or maybe it was Greg Fitzsimmons', about how he hosed a friend's wife in their bedroom while said friend was out mowing the lawn. So I've never been under the illusion that he was exactly a "good" guy. The way he told the story still made it funny as hell, of course.

the news made me go listen to some old bits and he really was a virtuoso. very few of his jokes were ever clever or “good” or whatever but the way he delivered them made them a billion times funnier than they had any right to be. I don’t know if there’s anyone who could deliver a joke like norm. rip
