That's not really accurate anyways because Alabama has a huge recruiting advantage over other teams. The NFL doesn't work like that. I get what he means but these teams aren't Alabama, they are just NFL teams not powerhouses. He last coached at Ohio State where he could also just out talent the majority of his opponents. These teams are made up of guys who made it to the big show and there's no Rutgers or Directional Michigan to dominate. It really is approaching everyone like they're Alabama because they'd all beat Alabama. The NFL is a whole new level of planning for him.

Apparently more recently after he was established at Bama he claimed the medical staff wouldn't let him sign Drew Brees and that's how they ended up with Culpepper (Brees disagrees with this assessment). Drew claims the Saints were all in from the start and he approached the Dolphins. quote:As Brees told me, "The impression I get from the Dolphins was I should feel lucky they were even looking at me. It just wasn't a welcoming feeling.'' Thinking about it I don't think 2006 Nick Saban (or his assistants) turn Drew Brees into a hall of famer, although he clearly would have been a hell of a lot better than a broken Culpepper. Saban still would have bailed in the end. 2018 and after Saban assistants are going hog wild with a prime Brees and a good receiver or two.
