Bad decisions will happen and the best thing to do is to admit they happened, recognize the mistakes and put the effort to rectify and improve. you're definitely right that context matters a lot, and a lot of what ive been trying to do since getting these accursed buttons is trying to read all the big threads and get a feel for the community in those threads as best I can because occasionally I'll see a report for something that I think looks bad, then take a look at the thread and understand it's actually pretty funny and everyone is chill, or that it's been ignored, or that whatever poo poo it stirred has passed and taking action now will just re-ignite the bad posting that annoys people. I know the big criticism about this language policy stuff is consistency one way or the other, so that's going to require the mods to communicate with each other as well.
