There are times where I'll read a post and I'll subconsciously give it the "voice" of a woman, and then afterward I'll notice other posters seem to address the op on the presumption that they are male and I'm left wondering what it was that made me intuit the op was female. Is it like this for anyone else? Are you able to perceive everyone as neutral until proven otherwise? Do you tend to default to male since historically that's been a safe assumption? Have you been able to fine-tune a sense of the gender status of your fellow goons?

Oh yeah and the ones that did like a 3rd of them thought I was an alt of Picks oh my God did that piss her off, it could have been insulting but I thought it was really funny how much it pissed her off. It was SO STUPID we posted nothing alike. I actually got probed for ban evasion as an alt of Picks when a mod listened to goons who assumed I was her. That mod did not last.

Honest answer, I'm guilty of this and I'm wrong a lot. Shitposts are always masculine in my head. Any time someone changes their name or avatar they're a dude again in my head until I figure out otherwise. I'm a regular enough lady irl and my similarly aged co-workers are all dudes who know about SA, newgrounds, 4chan and early internet shenanigans, so I kinda still feel like I'm right most of the time.

Then again sometimes they'll start talking amongst each other and try to keep it quiet, and I'll chime in and be like 'oh I know about when that happened on this site in 2006 and I could send you a link right now!!' and they'll be all like 'dang settle down bitch we know there's girls on the internet'. It's always something like goatse or pain Olympics and they don't think I know about it because it's gross or inappropriate. So I'm probably just annoying.

yeah you can tell because men and women tend to type differently, using different words and different tones it helps if you're overly fixated on thinking about gender though. and it isn't like a woman can't type in a male voice and vice versa men especially just tend to assume nearly everyone is a guy unless you name yourself a girly rear end name or something tho
