There's a distinct possibility that my wife and I are going to have to move from Fife, Scotland to Exeter in January. Unfortunately, while my wife has her driver's license here, I don't yet (I'm Canadian and have to take a driving test to switch my license to a UK one, but COVID delays have meant that I can't any time soon). This pretty much rules out us renting a truck and then moving that way, so I'm considering pod or container delivery services.

Has anyone had experience with moving within the UK via pod or container delivery? Any advice, either in how to proceed or what companies are good/bad?

I'm just working from my experience in North America, where I generally found pod shipping to be the most cost effective method of moving long distances as long as you're not transporting delicate stuff that way.

Maybe slightly more (%v/v) than there is fat in dairy milk - it's hard to get precise numbers for most of them. I'm not necessarily convinced prima facie that canola or rapeseed is much worse for you than the fats in dairy milk, though tbf there are also a bunch of bioactive peptides in milk which do good things for GI health.

There are also oat milks with no oil, although I imagine they taste gash. Fun fact, James Joyce wrote about people having "oatmealwater" in their porridge in Ulysses - the original hipster

If you’re a frequent user of Facebook services, you’re probably having some withdrawal pains now. It’s widely reported worldwide that Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram are down at the moment. Besides the avalanche of panicking users reporting their problems on Twitter, we can confirm that the Facebook website is entirely inaccessible, and the DNS is not resolving. In addition, the mobile app is non-functional. The same is true for web and mobile versions of Instagram. A quick trip to Downdetector shows that the first reports starting coming in at around 11:20 am ET.
Earlier this morning, we reported on a damning 60 Minutes interview with Frances Haugen, who served as a data scientist and former product manager for Facebook. Haugen resigned after becoming disillusioned with the company’s policies which she felt did more to harm its users than promote a healthy social networking environment.

Although Facebook hasn’t commented on the outages yet, it’s rather curious timing that this outage is coming so soon after the 60 Minutes piece. Rumors allege that the outages are the result of a DDoS attack in response to Haugen’s explosive claims, which are backed by a lengthy paper trail.

What's even more interesting is that it seems to be a DNS (Domain Name System) server/host level attack that has taken out all of Facebook internet properties, apps and services, all of which can't actually resolve when their names are typed in a browser or apps are loaded.

Facebook, however, has provided this official response so far:

An anonymous employee source at Facebook tells us that the outage is not just affecting end users trying to access its properties and apps, it's hampering internal work systems at the company too. "It also took down Workplace, which is what we use for all of [our] internal communications," said the source. "So everybody's cut off from work right now, too.... even our VPNs are reporting they can't find the server."

We should also note that other Facebook properties like Oculus.com are also still down.

During his speech, Mr Javid recalled his work volunteering in a care home.

He also warned that NHS waiting list times are set to “get worse before they get better”, promising “the biggest catch-up fund in the history of the NHS”, with a focus on prioritised elective recovery, check-ups, scans and surgeries.

The minister reiterated that when he began his role in June he was told the NHS waiting list could reach 13 million.

Mr Javid said: “My priorities are simple: Covid, recovery, reform. Covid: getting us, and keeping us, out of the pandemic. Recovery: tackling the huge backlog of appointments it has caused. And reform of our health and social care systems for the long term.

“No reform is easy, otherwise it would’ve been done already. But if we get it right, no, when we get it right, we won’t build back the way things were.

“We’ll build a future where our health and social care systems are integrated more seamlessly together, where British life sciences lead the world on new treatments, where we have not only the best surgeons, but robots performing life-saving surgeries.”

Deepening health disparities were also touched upon by the health secretary, who said the gap in healthy life expectancy between Blackpool and Richmond-upon-Thames is almost 20 years. “It’s time to level up on health,” he said.

Mr Sunak dismissed VAT for being too regressive, citing instead the “historic link” between National Insurance and healthcare, the former set up originally to pay for the NHS.

Man I feel kinda bad. Three weeks ago I handed in an audio cassette and a Video tape, audio cassette has a recording from when my granddad turned 65 and the video tape is a bunch of home video shot in the 80s. Figured I should have them digitalized when I saw an ad for it.

I handed them in to the guy who did it and he was probably in his late 70s, said it'd take a week. Didn't hear from him for two weeks, sent a few mails to ask him about the status, then I also sent an old fashioned SMS and he said sorry he's been in hospital for over a week, but he was getting home this weekend and would finish the job. Last night I get another SMS from his wife who said her husband has died and his son would be finishing the job.

First of all it feels really weird to have been in communication with someone who sounded like they where getting better and going home, then hear a couple of days later they died. Then also I pestered him about work like days before he died.
