I liked the Bond film where he got arrested and tortured for months in a North Korean jail. Don't remember the rest so assume it just involved him wasting away doing forced labour and the occasional anti-West propaganda video.

Beware of Asda oat milk, they put sugar or vanilla or something in it. Has a faint taste of Milkybar's (which is fine if you're using it to make a cup of cocoa or something but makes tea taste foul). Also leaves a weird orange powdery residue at the bottom of any tea/coffee. JÖRĐ and Oatly are both pretty good for having with both cereal and coffee/tea.

Things can never change, they always must remain the same. lol at the Tories trying to culture war WFH though. My employer is a big company that the thread loves to hate, and it's going all in on WFH as a business model because it makes recruiting/retaining staff so much easier.

Strom Cuzewon posted:Wait, what? Those are different? Yes, Living Wage is a political campaign to highlight to employers the bare minimum a person needs to live without suffering financial hardship. National Living Wage is a rebranding of the National Minimum Wage by George Osborne (so that they can fool people into thinking that the minimum wage is enough to live on). It is significantly lower that the 'Living Wage' recommendation.

Also the Living Wage campaign was reasonably successful at shaming employers into raising wages to match. Once the mandated minimum wage was rebranded as 'living' the pressure on employers to pay more has significantly eased off. Another win for the Tories.

The handful of times I've been in Glasgow city centre in the past month mask wearing compliance in shops transport has been fairly high (I'd estimate about 80% for the places I was in... Superdrug, Sainsburys, H&M). It's still apparently mandatory in public spaces/transport but not enforced so I was actually surprised how widespread it still is. It's also still mandatory in high schools. Vaccination rollout for 12 - 18 year olds apparently began last month, though couldn't tell you the percentages (edit: I can it's 65% of 'At Risk' teenagers who have had 1 dose of phizer, though anyone's guess what number that % represents). Cases in Scotland seem to be uncomfortably high but stable. Though there is evidence of ambulance services being under severe pressure, not clear how much this is due to Covid, Tory mad max world, or just general lack of money. keep punching joe fucked around with this message at 10:02 on Oct 7, 2021 |

In a sick way Labour are correct, increased wages just means increased property prices and increased rents. Maybe they should talk more about capping those instead of earnings.
