This is our future. Everything is getting more automated, so bugs in processes are amplified and impacting actual physical things. When software engineers interact with the real world more and more, the fuckups will be hilarious- like Facebook locking out employers because servers go down.

That's because they don't serve and protect the people. They bully and assault the people for fun and profit.

Police exist to protect capital, not people.

Conservatives have control of the Senate and Biden isnt going to be nominating anyone to the Supreme Court

Hope this helps

If there's a Supreme Court opening in Biden's term, it will almost certainly be filled. But the odds of a justice you would want dying doing so in the next couple years are low, the Republican wing of the Supreme Court are all relatively very young.

In his defense, .22s have killed a lot of people and almost worked there, but for a secret service agent being thorough in his job.

But man would the world be a better place if Hinkley was more dedicated to his craft.

Would Bush have been any better taking over for Reagan? Someone coming right out of the CIA may well have gone even harder for supporting right wing terrorists.

What I'm still confused about is one shot killing one and critically wounding another, unless it was a through-and-through. Also how the gently caress any kind of live ammo got on set and this not being an overpressured barrel obstruction / blank fired too close to person kind of deal.

Someone speculated the gun was being shot at the camera since the cinematographer was hit - shrapnel maybe?

In some areas there are now explicit orders that cops cannot pursue a vehicle either at all, or unless it is a murder or rape suspect. So rear end in a top hat criminals just speed away and get away with driving like a lunatic, because the cities passed those laws.

You somehow got this entirely backwards - police pursuits result in reckless driving and people getting unnecessarily hurt. Unless someone is in imminent danger it's almost always safer all around to back off and deal with the suspect in a way that doesn't involve barely controlling multi-ton pieces of metal around a bunch of bystanders.

NYC will still make it expensive and difficult, and most upstate counties that are may issue almost always give out unrestricted (CCW) permits. It's only the city and Long Island that are the big douchebags.

The douchebags are the people that don't want a bunch of cowboys carrying guns in public in a dense urban area?

Every section follows almost the exact same format. Once you learn how to read bills you‘ll see that a 1500 page bill is probably 100 pages of actual information. It’s frustrating to navigate and unfair to citizens imho.

Part of the problem is that all that text has to be legally precise for regulatory agencies to implement and courts to deal with down the line. If there was a non legally binding, non technical summary of the bill's changes prepared by an organization something like the CBO that would be a huge improvement.

Meanwhile, the Lincoln Project (remember them?) sent tiki-torch wielding guys to pose as white supremacists at a Youngkin event at Charlottesville. Kind of a gross stunt to pull and I think it could blow back on McAuliffe even if his campaign didn’t have anything to do with it.

The usual pearl clutching is already in full effect, but why would it backfire? That is a reminder of who Youngkin's base is.
