More Elegab news! Apparently the mold for Gakkon the school kaiju has been found! Nari is awaiting news to see if there is any damage. https://x.com/elegab_jp/status/1754834176313065515?s=20 I've heard of this happening before- apparently there are so many drat molds for sofubi that sometimes they just get lost by the company because most of the time they are simply piled up and it becomes like a tangle of iron.

I've wondered how these were stored / organized before. That's hilarious in a "funny, but not funny" kinda way. Saw a dude on Instagram fighting to get his molds sent to him from a factory and that was something I hadn't really considered; if you make a toy and then want more at some point you're sort of at the mercy if they kept track of the molds properly I guess. Also, that's super rad! This is the one with the clock and race track, correct?

That was a a really cool little doc! I finally bit the bullet and bought one of the Janets from our very own Failson here (who was super cool and obliged me on sending the 'glowiest' one...)  Ooh la la! And while I was dicking around with my black light, here's a few others in my collection.  Art Junkie Chirasu-Chan (I really like this figure, I have a few others of her too)  (Most of) the glow gang! And speaking of glow, Clutter Magazine is doing their Glow Show tomorrow, it's not strictly sofubi, but there are some pieces in the lineup. https://clutter.co/  On the non-glow front, a new Sunguts Baragon is coming out!

Arrived! It’s Elegab’s newest figure COROSHIYAN-V! This one really is weird and gives me more of a tokusatsu alien feel than the last one did (even though I loved that as well)  I like that the right arm is the last 2 fingers of the hand and the big eye is a wild touch  Good stuff! It also comes with an alternative hand for the left arm that I haven’t tried yet (he included an illustrated instruction sheet saying the glove is really tight so you have to use a hair dryer to soften the vinyl to take it off and switch it). Enter the Dragon claw!  The card that comes with it announced that the next release will the the 18th Danchira colorway. Unless it’s a red one I will probably pass as I have a colorway I love of it.

Nice! Sort of regretnot trying for one, but gotta keep telling myself patience, heh. I don't recall the eye on the leg being shown in any of the lead up. That's a fun surprise. Edit: also excited for a shot at Danchira!

COROSHIYAN-V looks like another hit. Incredibly unique. I haven't had the energy to paint much of anything lately, and I'm too broke to invest in another mold, but by gum, just looking at any Elgab figure, and I want to make a kaiju.

I'm honestly not sure if one is an advantage over the other but I'm sure that a centrifuge is probably a less expensive way to do it. Also clear sofubi has to be made in a very climate controlled environment- if there is any real humidity the clear will cure very cloudy. When sofubi used to be made mostly by mom and pop shops you'd have to order clear during the winter.

Oh god damnit- I didn't enter the Elegab lottery and he just now showed the omake that he's including: Deppa King and Fly Man X finger puppets! Those were the last 2 figures I needed to make a complete set of Elegab toys (one of each kind). I got a Deppa King by chance when checking Mandarake a couple years back, and Fly Man X hasn't been made in years and years, I've only seen one in person at Nari's studio. My reactions are 2-fold. 1: gently caress I missed out on getting Fly Man X! 2: COOL Fly Man X and Deppa King molds are not destroyed!
