What is The Good Life? Stolen from the Kickstarter page quote:The Good Life is a debt repayment daily life RPG co-developed by SWERY's White Owls Inc. and a development team led by Yukio Futatsugi, the creator of Panzer Dragoon and Phantom Dust. If you have a familiarity with SWERY's previous output, you can probably guess that the town you've been sent to is very weird. Main difference is that you're in a Hot Fuzz-esque picturesque British country town not Twin Peaks. Also that it seems to, some admittedly serious occlusion issues aside, actually run somewhat decently. They appear to have kept their ambition in check unlike the disaster that was Deadly Premonition 2. Or maybe it shits the bed later. I'm still early. The key gameplay conceit is the photojournalism. You progress the main quest by investigating the central mysteries around the town with your trusty camera skills and use those same skills to earn money doing sidequests for various clients or just taking trendy photos to upload to an app that gives you money based on how popular they are with the current trends. There's also a variety of non-camera related part time jobs like mining, wrangling sheep or working at an underground casino. You can use this money on clothes, food, new cameras and equipment, getting high in the forest with the local witch or buying furniture and other upgrades for your house. Care for your lovely little cottage and make it a comfortable hideaway from your crushing debt. Which you also have to pay off. Eventually. So yeah two main goals. 1. Stop Tom Nook from breaking your legs. 2. Solve the big mysteries of Rainy Woods. The murder. Which of course happens shortly after your arrival. And the fact everyone including yourself turn into cats or dogs late at night. That poo poo's pretty weird too. You can and have to change freely between the two, so don't worry bout getting locked in here. I don't have much personally to add, I just started playing and I like it so far and figured I'd make a quick thread. A Sometimes Food fucked around with this message at 12:31 on Oct 16, 2021 |
