I find it bizarre how some people took to it like it was some ancient Christmas tradition to the point where there was always someone trying to introduce it to every place I worked at and talked about it like they had been doing it their whole life. Also, you don’t need a spy elf to explain to your kids how Santa knows if they have been good or bad. He spies on them with his holiday magic.  It feels like one of those things where if you dig into it you’ll find out the author’s grandfather was in the OSS or something.

best xmas movie tradition is starting to watch lord of the rings because you don’t want to. lean up post-xmas-dinner and then keep going for the entire trilogy and ordering takeout and napping in the middle. glorious.
