Maybe the media should stop spreading the name of the production that murdered one crew member and injured another. All this national press coverage will encourage copycat studios to enact similar crimes. And we in this thread must acknowledge our own culpability.

The biggest take here is that the person shouting "cold gun" wasn't even the person who was supposed to be handling this poo poo so who knows where the freaking armored even was at the time.

They were shouting "Could gun get a safety check? I'm definitely not the right person for this." but Alec heard the first two words and just started blasting before they could finish the rest.

perhaps if we shot all actors and production crew with tiny bullets when they're young they would be more resistant to bullets as adults

Bad Purchase

a lot of states still have the death penalty. perhaps the for-profit prison industry could sell death row inmates to whatever production alec baldwin is involved in. prison labor is cheap, non-unionized, and alec baldwin’s insatiable lust for blood can be isolated to those already condemned. maybe throw in a perk for the laborers — if you manage to survive through 10 productions you win your freedom. (nobody has ever lasted that long, but it would be a great premise for an alec baldwin tv show if anyone wants to pitch it.)

We could outsource media production to developing nations with much looser safety and regulatory hurdles, and if a few people get killed it won’t make the news because they weren’t American.

Bad Purchase
Jun 17, 2019

The secret of Hollywood is that a few actors and crew are killed on every set. It's so common it almost never makes the news. Have you heard the expression "Quiet on set!" and wondered what it meant? A director will yell that when someone has been killed by a gun discharge or stunt gone wrong, allowing a moment of silence to be observed. But then it's right back to "Lights, camera, action!". They don't call Hollywood "The City that Never Sleeps" for nothing.

Everyone blaming this on the sweet feral gun child with the clown hair / sex tshirt or the hard-working AD, whose spotless work history spanning decades speaks for itself, is ignoring the fact that Alec Baldwin was observed inserting bullets from his own bandolier into the cold, empty weapon, carefully taking aim at his coworkers, and then grumbling in his best Hollywood anti-hero voice through a wry half-smile, "How about I just fuckin' shoot the both of ya?" as he pulled the trigger and shot the both of them.

not only are guns dangerous as props, but so are all stunts, set construction projects, and just being near others at all during a pandemic. live cinema production was a mistake and should be put to an immediate stop worldwide. we should return to reading these stories in print and use the power of our own imaginations to produce imagery and characters more fantastical and thrilling than could ever be captured on a medium as lifeless as film.
