I hope that got deleted right away.

Wouldn't that be tampering with evidence?

Let's just hope the SSD was immediately passed to law enforcement and didn't first go into the ingest hopper for the production team.

Why is the "live round" source the guys who explicitly say they had nothing to do with the prop?

Leaks. There will have been probably a few people on the inside in the film crew unhappy that the union team had to walk and who shared their gun safety on set concerns and misgivings over the chucklefuck armorer.

  • It was assistant director and schedule pusher / company man Halls, who took gun from cart and handed it to Baldwin, without inspecting it, and while confidently stating "cold gun"
  • Halls had long history of skipping or trying to skip safety meetings and procedures, and was the named subject of numerous safety complaints from members of the union crew that left and which was replaced with non-union scabs that same morning.
  • Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer responsible for the guns, was apparently absent from set when the event took place, and so by implication Halls did not confer with her before retrieving the gun from the cart.
  • Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer, was shot and fatally wounded in the chest, not her shoulder.
  • It was Joel Souza, the director, who was (non-fatally) wounded in the shoulder (he stood behind Halyna).

I just want to get to the part of the court case where the prosecutor asks,

quote:

Ms. Reed, in your own words please describe the role and responsibilities of a film armorer.

I'm probably gonna watch Rust, it sounds like a cool movie.

They were only about halfway through their schedule. There is no movie. If a reformed production company is put together to complete it, it will be very weird. Everybody now knows this was a cursed production and the original AD will be probably in prison and they'll need a living DP. Will Baldwin be found culpable in some sanctionable way for the chaotic set conditions? I'd never heard of this film before. But maybe the curiosity value is now high enough and they could spin it into a charity thing with some chunk of proceeds going to Hutchins' family.

Was she acting in this? Like why was he pointing it at her in the first place?

They were rehearsing for a scene in which Baldwin is drawing and pointing a revolver at the camera, creating the POV of whomever his character would be aiming at in the movie. The director and the DP were crowding behind the camera operator to watch the monitor, giving instructions for the framing.

If they were only rehearsing, he shouldn't have had an actual gun in his hands, no? A (rubber) prop gun would do just as well.

At least that's what I'm getting from that twitter thread by competent armorer guy.

A rubber prop gun??? That doesn't shoot bullets?

Tommy Wiseau would have called that mickey mouse stuff.

the producer douche bro who grabbed a random gun from the armorer's abandoned cart and declared it COLD GUN as culpable as the armorer. IMO the only fair outcome of this trial is that these two individuals have to duel with period revolvers and the first one injured or dead was the guilty one.

Loving the "young armorer" angle. After all, according to the sacred rules of hollywood nepotism, mediocre progeny from famous people in the Establishment must be given a fair shake and extra compassion.

Sure the ammo supplier is sus as gently caress but it is the armorer's job to check this stuff.

Was it ever proven that the armorer and some of the crew would do plinking between shots, on the set, with the prop revolvers and live rounds?
