It is a bit of a thick read even for short story and it doesn't have much of a plot other than "Here's this dude who doesn't want to do much. Here's more of the dude who doesn't want to do much. Here's more of the dude who doesn't want to do much. Here's more of the dude who doesn't want to do much. Oh, He died." Makes me wonder what got under Melville's bonnet to make him write such a story.
