So is that going to be two anime episodes per show then? I can’t imagine stretching those episodes out to a full hour.

My guess is they'll divide the episodes into main- and sub-plots and distribute them among the cast so everyone's getting something to do and then have them tie back together in the end.

My hope is that they use their hour long episodes to give the main cast more stuff to do. I'd rather they didn't use the extra minutes to keep cutting away to whatever pointless poo poo Vicious is doing so he's a more present villain.

I definitely think they're going to have some kind of seasonal arc with Vicious, maybe stretch out some of what's in Jupiter Jazz. My hope is it's just like, one scene an episode, if that. I'm not super enthused about more Vicious but it makes sense for them to want a running plot of some capacity between episodes. I'm willing to forgive them injecting that bit of light continuity if the rest is more episodic as Bebop should be.

Reports are that they've added Vicious to the first episode that adapts the anime first episode, he's part of the syndicate team sent after Asimov, so I'm guessing he'll be in every episode the syndicate is involved in.

I'd guess that if they go for recreations of the Anime Episodes, Jupiter Jazz seems like a good one to end season 1 on. If they end Season 1 at the Ballad of Fallen Angels that'd be allright too, but they'd be *really* filling for time in the middle episodes (which, given how a lot of Netflix shows go is extremely likely).

I'm figuring that the episodes won't be 1-to-1 recreations given the extra runtime, so there should be more space to let the character's do their thing.

If I had to bet, I think that they are gonna be pretty faithful to Asteroid Blues and Stray Dog Strut (given what we've seen in the promo material and some of the stills, it looks like those will be in) and if they get weird with it, it's going to be further on in the series.

(and can't post for 27 days!)

some of the bebop episodes are only light sketches of stories. it'd be almost impossible not to expand on them given the longer runtime. like stray dog strut - it's basically just 'a guy is on the run with an expensive dog'. most of the episode is chasing and fighting, very little depth. i think it's also one of the most boring episodes. that's where the potential to make this good as well as horrible lies.

the setting of bebop is also pretty interesting so there's plenty of room to expand and stretch out in general, if they feel like doing it. i hope they do a few episodes that are totally original material, too.

I do wish Steve Conte had a song, though. Then again, I doubt just 24 tracks will fill out the whole season, so they might use the original series' music as well.

Yeah. One I read said it was good, not perfect, and 7/10 of the episodes were solid. Sounds reasonable.

I hope they're not making it too Vicious-focused. I just finished rewatching the original and that whole storyline is only in like, four episodes and that was plenty for me.

A while back AS used to have a once-a-year running of all the Cowboy Bebop main plot episodes - all six of them. It was episdoes 1, 5, 12, 13, 25, 26 all in a row and that was it.

AS only showed it once a year and this was after they stopped doing regular episodes. 12 and 13 have definitely not aged well, but my point is that there's like a total of eight episodes of Bebop that have an actual plot and the rest is just whatever and that's probably one of the best things about the series. Just replace 12 and 13 with Ed's father and either the mushrooms or the bad food episode and that's a decent 2-ish hours of tv.
