So the Original Man is heartless, loves making deals, covets money, and promises power but delivers us into slavery. He's not the Original Man in the sense of the first human ever born -- he's the original incarnation of The Man, keeping all free-minded folk shackled to their jobs. e: clearly he's both our master and our apprentice because our mindless consumerism both feeds him and allows him to prey upon us.
