post itt every time it's obvious that the democrats abject failure to do anything on the agenda they were elected to do is going to lead to them losing the house, senate, and the WH in 2024

listen fat, this is the most progressive administration since fdr:

- cancel student loan debt
- $15 min wage
- paid family leave
- medicare coverage of dental, vision and hearing
- closing the camps at the border and rehoming migrant kids
- permanent expansion of the CTC
- free college
- free community college
- a rushed lovely withdrawal from Afghanistan 🇦🇫!!

vote!

lmfao at this framing from CNN

quote:

And will what is now a much-diminished measure so disappoint Democratic base voters and independents that it will fail to have the significant political impact the party needs to stave off a Republican rout in next fall's midterm elections?

One thing is for sure: if progressives don't eventually come aboard, even if they are dissatisfied with the compromises made to get the package through the Senate, they could inflict huge damage on Biden's already wobbling presidency.

[...]

In essence, progressives will be forced to make a decision faced by political leaders of all stripes for eons: Do they swallow their disappointment about not getting everything they want in order to lock in real if more incremental change?

[...]

Assuming some kind of bill eventually does pass, it will saddle progressives with a paradoxical task of selling to their voters a measure they increasingly appear to disdain. But failing to convince their voters of the historic nature of the measure will risk losing even their narrow majorities in midterm elections next year.

begun, the progressive blame has

IMO the only way they merely get rolled instead of omega-rolled is if Trump tries to make 2022 about him, which fortunately the GOP is powerless to stop. Dems still gonna lose though and we'll be the ones to suffer the consequences.

Cabbages and Kings posted:

How many people would you need to move, physically, to guarantee both a heavily, uncontestable blue map in 2024, and victory for some number of actual progressives in key places?

I wonder how this compares to the number of reliably left voting workers who are currently fully remote and might be willing to go live someplace otherwise undesirable to them for long enough to be registered voters in nov 2024? Or even 2022; it doesn't even appear to me that the required length of time is that long, most places? One would need a physical address, mail, actual residency.

I love where I live and it would suck to be isolated from my family for a while and have to travel a distance to see them, but if this was something that was feasible based on math and had organized momentum behind it, I personally would go rent some cheap place with internet access for as long as needed, gently caress it.

Does anyone have a clue what the numbers look like and if this is a pipe dream or something that's possible?
