The funniest part to me is that even if (and it is a huge if) Trump went to jail, it isn't going to be the drab gray walls and lovely cot jail like on TV. It's going to be a minimum security country club where the greatest cruelty is that the golf course only has 9 holes instead of 18.
It's not going to be remotely close to the federal pound-me-in-the-rear end prison that Libs have themselves worked up into a lather over imagining Trump in.

Literally the prison Sideshow Bob went to after rigging the election, yeah. And if anything it'll probably be near indistinguishable from his preferred lifestyle.

I think it's less them being short-sighted currently and more the consequences of their short-sightedness 7 years ago when they shanked their last national candidate with any real widespread popularity. They have nobody in the wings with even remotely the same appeal that Trump has for the Republicans and they know it.

Pretty sure they consider that a plus. At this point they actively hate the idea that a candidate should or has to appeal to voters at all.

The money goes to the various ad companies their friends and children work at (or might work at in the future).

It's basically an incestuous ecosystem of organizations. I pay a huge amount of money to some ad agency my friend runs, he hires my failson/faildaughter, I give an internship to my friend's failson/faildaughter, etc.

I've said before that the entire campaigning system seems basically optimised at this point to suck up a near infinite amount of donation money. On top of all the more blatant grift, much like everything else under neoliberal rot, it's gotten to the point where parasites outweigh the mass of the host and it no longer allocates sufficient resources to actually serving its purpose anymore.

I think my favorite is people shouting "I'll die under Trump," and going into histrionic rants about how the second he's in office, Republicans will give the cops permission to perform a Kristallnacht event, seizing people from their homes en masse, when it clearly never happened during the first four years Trump was President.

These same people were definitely getting mealy-mouthed at best about riots during the Floyd response.

Liberals think they can outsource passion and effort. Like that's not their job, it's your job. They view young leftists with anger and petulance because they're not doing what they should be, being smiling hardworking volunteers to prop up the Democrats because it's what you're supposed to do.

Either that or they consider their social media scolding and whining to be getting the vote out, telling people to Vote Blue No Matter Who is supposed to actually work.

Anyone with even Trump's level of political instincts is very likely staying under the radar until Trump is out of the picture permanently, there's absolutely nothing to be gained from trying to push in on a position of mindshare that's already very much occupied, and even trying to suck up to Trump is well known to be pathetically useless because, like his probable half-brother Vince McMahon, he sees no use for rewarding loyalty.

That's pretty much the entire Dem ruling class by now. The party is basically a cult of careerist parasites. Nobody in the position to make decisions benefits from getting the rotting fossils out of the big chairs until forced to.

The Dems want the first woman President to be a historic electoral victory but Kamala getting installed after Biden dies or is deemed unfit for office is way more on-brand for them.

I still say the funniest option is Biden drops dead shortly after losing to Trump and Kamala is a lame duck caretaker

This is way too embarrassing to admit, but a part of my awful libertarian turn for the first year or so of college (I got better once I started talking to actual libertarians and learning poo poo) was probably at least partially influenced by the Democrats/Hillary going so hard against video games. I really bought into anger at the "nanny state." Going to be interesting if that ends up taking root. Hopefully it'll be funny.

I've said before that the Dems really got hurt by the Tipper Gore alliance, and in hindsight it really showed their priorities.

The concept of worrying about more than one thing at a time (or intersectionality) is apparently an alien one to libs.

It's not, they just pretend it is so they can punch left. Actual intersectionality was used for that until they couldn't keep class out of it anymore, and then they instantly abandoned it.

The one thing liberals truly believe in is the cult of careerism, they worship the titles and trappings of office. Hence why they have an outright crisis of faith over the Court, because they can't imagine anything other than sitting in the big chair until you die. Nothing is more important than your career and your titles.

It will be interesting to see how this fucks with volunteer numbers. That dumb post earlier showing that he's "only" lost 6% of youth voters over Palestine had someone point out that losing all your door knockers would probably suck. Then a bunch of people were gloating in the comments that actually most GOTV people are middle-aged ladies so Biden will be fine if no young people volunteer and he definitely won't have to spend all the Lizzo fundraiser money paying for people to knock on doors (and pray that they don't just chill on a bench and say they did it).

middle aged liberal ladies have got to make excellent door knockers and definitely not entitled rage elementals

The Democrats convinced themselves that people actually loved Obama's milquetoast nothing administration and forgot he only one with charisma, lies and pretending to care about real material problems. (and that Dems ate poo poo in the midterms because they bought into right wing framing of what he DID do, lol)

During 2020 you could see them actively destroying all their own standards as the party told them to, and I think it really did leave them with absolutely no ability to understand that other people can even have standards. They broke themselves for Biden, and they can't live with themselves if anyone else isn't willing to.

Meanwhile Trump knows that he's not going to run out of money, and I'm pretty sure correctly identified that the campaign apparatus consists almost entirely of and is for graft. The Dems crowing about how Trump and the RNC are broke is probably just galvanising right wingers into donating more.
