I had a feeling that some influential people were going to be thrown the wolves to take public attention away from the nonce prince. It looks like I may have been right

A man has described his shock at returning to his house and finding it stripped of all furnishings after it was sold without his knowledge.

Having been alerted by neighbours, the Reverend Mike Hall drove to Luton and found building work under way and a new owner who said he had bought the house.

A BBC investigation found Mr Hall's identity had been stolen and used to sell the house and bank the proceeds.

Exactly this.

I'm genuinely surprised by some of the victim blaming going on here. The guy owned a tiny terraced house, yet he deserved to lose it and all of his possessions because of fraud? WTF?!?

SAS business lounges used to be good when I was flitting around Scandinavia, and I always used to try and arrive early and make a day of it if I could. I used to get some funny looks from actual business people, so I often just flashed my ticket at them and said "Sorry about the smell, but I'm a musician".

Covid anti-vaxxers are refusing to pay tax bills mistakenly thinking they are immune from prosecution

quote:

A number of Covid conspiracists have started abstaining from paying utility bills and their council tax in protest against the “tyranny” they claim to live under in the UK, according to messages posted to Telegram.

Groups on the social media platform – where thousands of Covid anti-vaxxers congregate and organise protests – have started branching out from discussing conspiracy theories about coronavirus and the vaccine and have begun justifying the reasons for no longer paying their bills.

Many have a misguided belief they will not face prosecution for cancelling their payments, thanks in part to disinformation spread by an influencer on the platform with a significant following who claims stopping the payment of council tax will put pressure on the Government to scrap the Coronavirus Act.

I agree. But look at the tesla charging infrastructure and tell me what you think

What do I think about a closed access charging network that relies on carbon producing fossil fuels to operate? I think it helps sell the illusion that Tesla owners are in some way ecological while cementing Tesla's monopoly.

NotJustANumber99 posted:

they invested in infrastructure! imagine a society that does that!

Imagine a world where Tesla paid their taxes, and society was able to use that tax money to invest in infrastructure?

It looks like Labour 'lost' everyone's personal info:

quote:

What happened?

On 29 October 2021, we were informed of the cyber incident by the third party. The third party told us that the incident had resulted in a significant quantity of Party data being rendered inaccessible on their systems. As soon as the Party was notified of these matters, we engaged third-party experts and the incident was immediately reported to the relevant authorities, including the National Crime Agency (NCA), National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). The Party continues to work closely with each of these authorities. The Party is also working closely and on an urgent basis with the third party in order to understand the full nature, circumstances and impact of the incident. The Party’s own data systems were unaffected by this incident.

What information was involved?

We understand that the data includes information provided to the Party by its members, registered and affiliated supporters, and other individuals who have provided their information to the Party. The full scope and impact of the incident is being urgently investigated.

The entire system is corrupt, and has always been like this. Laws in this country are decided by lobbyists behind closed doors, and the lobbying always involves briefcases of cash. Public opinion is then altered and moulded to suit any proposed changes to the laws through propaganda via the tabloids, soap operas and media, and that's how our 'democracy' works.
