drat that is actually insane. what can a private detective agency even do in that case just be like "give em back!" and the streamer can just go "....no!"

That was basically it, with implied threats of litigation and/or violence. They just showed up at his doorstep to terrorize him and his wife. I think he did end up giving the cards back.

Do you think all the characters in Wonder Mario will still have full collision with each other so you're constantly accidentally picking each other up and bumping each other into enemies and pits?

I'm guessing that it's because I went from a right hand joycon held in my right hand to a left hand one in my left hand. And that it was NOT that I was better at dancing to Taylor Swift than to MC Hammer. Far from it!

As impressive as Swift's stage presence is, Hammer is the better dancer by a mile. It's not your fault.

Castlevania 64, the one with Reinhardt and Carrie, sucks rear end.

Legacy of Darkness, the other CV game on the 64 with Cornell the werewolf, is fair-to-middling.

Don't confuse them.

It was especially good because there is zero indication that's what it's gonna be. You boot up "Serious Moonlight" and get a Final Fantasy-esque title screen and then...Garcia loving Hotspur loving dies.

Fair but even that is held back. True Vanillaware design would be the breasts are 3/4th of the character and they are used for fighting. In Muramasa Demonblade, they let you play a character that turns into a raccoon dog and fight with their huge testicles. So it goes both ways for Vanillaware.

That's backwards, you play as a cat that can transform into a girl, a monster cat, or a normal cat, and you are fighting the tanuki's testicles as a boss fight. The testicles are disguised as a haunted mansion and all the spirits contained within including a married couple with stretchy necks and walking butts with eyes where the buttholes should be. You are doing this because you need the tanuki's help to transform into a more convincing girl so you can seduce the samurai who killed your owner and then eat him whole, which (spoiler) you successfully do and are thus allowed into Cat Heaven for avenging your family.

This is a side story that largely has nothing to do with the real plot of the game.

Anybody have any recommendations for dungeon crawlers?

Looking for something more focused on combat and exploration over story, though having something there is a plus.

Potato Flowers in Full Bloom is an excellent chill dungeon crawler. Make a crew of four little guys, inch your way through a giant dungeon to maybe find some potato seeds at the bottom. Light management is a huge part of exploration, combat is tactical but not super complex, all the little dudes are cute and if you open your menu you get a diorama of your party just hanging out. Solid recommend.

Stray starts with falling into the depths and losing all your cat friends then getting chased by hordes of killer robots

Should elaborate that "losing all your cat friends" is not a euphemism, you just get separated from them because they don't fall, they're fine, they don't get murdered by said killer robots. There is no explicit cat murder in Stray unless you're bad at running from killer robots.
