I'm surprised it wasn't met with a bunch of wailing and gnashing of teeth but it seems like gamers took the news pretty well

The number one thing to know about mario party is that you should never ever expect to win, the game will mercilessly gently caress you. So if your 6 year old can handle being on the cusp of victory only to have the game arbitrarily take away stars and give them to someone else, (while all the other players hoot and holler at the misfortune) it should be fine.

I think Super Mario Party had a mode where you can just play the minigames instead of going through the whole board game thing, if you'd rather do that. I don't know if this newest one has that feature though Sounds like you guys were having fun up to the point when she got hosed over...it'll be worth going back to it with the correct mindset!

I played through super metroid for the first time in like 15 years. Controls took some adjustment, she really falls slowly compared to newer games. I blundered through, collecting the powerups I could remember (missed the wave beam, got to Ridley, then doubled back to find it, ugh). I made a point to defeat draygon in honorable combat (no cowardly grapple beam trick for me!) and it was like a 10 minute battle. When I finally beat the game my final time was 3:02

It's quite satisfying to pull off...but so was pumping missles into his belly. First time I played though the game (eons ago) I didn't know the trick, and he was the hardest boss in the game for me, so subsequent playthroughs were all done using the trick. It was nice to beat him the old fashioned way this time

What's everyone playing this weekend? I'm going to give dicey dungeons a try. I've also been playing resident evil revelations 2 solo, probably wrap it up this weekend. Interesting game. It's meant to be played coop, with asymmetrical characters. One is the gun person, the other is the utility person. Without going too deep into it I can see potential for some really fun coop moments. It's working fine for me solo too Between those two I'm playing through metroid fusion. Rather than poke around and explore, I'm going immediately from objective to objective, hoping for a low time
