Kind of. Wizards Of High Sorcery who serve Nuitari wear Red Robes, but their spells still come from the standard Wizard Spells list, just with restrictions. All 3 orders work like that.

The one I always thought was cool is Adult Rydia: When Rydia is out of your party in the underground, time passes differently, so she ages up in her looks but also gains a bunch of levels, new spells, and new summons because she was training and practicing her craft at the same time.

And yet, you can spend as much time there as you want, and never age. Like, it worked long enough to age Rydia, then stopped.

That is super comforting to know. Friendly communities makes the experience that much better.

You don't even really have to tell them, since all new characters are flagged as Sprouts, and have a special Sprout Icon by their name. It doesn't hurt, though, because even players with hundreds of hours will have new characters flagged as Sprouts.

Speaking of new characters, there's no real reason to make multiple characters, because you can play every job in the game (as long as you have the required expansion and are at the required level).

Endwalker has been very bad for me so far. I don't like the villains, but it's not because they're bad guys. It's because one is so boring that I forget he exists, and the other is so stupidly over the top that he's just annoying. If the game gave me the option, I would totally ignore him every time he shows up, because I know that's the worst thing that you can do to him.

I've made it to the part where you're supposed to go to the frozen lake in an attempt to get supplies for the Garlean kids you just found, and I just don't care.

I played from the start all the way to that point with no breaks, so I'm taking one now. Hopefully, it'll get better soon…

RE: Modding FF Games, I'm curious as to whether or not there are any stability issues with modded versions of the game?

The thing that puts me off modding games not designed with it in mind is always the stability issues that can occur; this is massively true for Final Fantasy Games where you're staring down tens of hours of wiped progress.

I suppose the baseline answer is "potentially" but in terms of commonality of issues, are modded games generally okay?

I ask because I'd really like to try Memoria for IX and the SFF Mod for FFXII (although this one might be in a while).

Yeah, the answer will always be "potentially", but that's mainly because there are so many different computer configurations that it's impossible to test everything. Generally, as long as you exceed the minimum requirements to run a game, mods should be fine. If you get them from a place like NexusMods, always check the Posts and Bugs tabs to see if any major bugs have been reported.

For the most part, though, you should be fine.

Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia is pretty good. It's been running for 5 years in JP and 4 in Global. Both versions have monthly community streams, though the JP one is pre-recorded.

They're pretty generous with handing out the MTX currency. As a matter of fact, during the monthly GL stream, the Community Manager will run co-ops, and he'll set a goal, like 'Let's have 5 characters from Final Fantasy 7', and as a reward for meeting the goal, they'll hand out extra MTX currency.

I think it's loving batty that they don't turn it into a paid single-player game. Truly obnoxious to waste all those man-hours once it's not profitable enough, like removing all the multiplayer/gacha poo poo and then re-releasing the game for $30 won't make them an absurd amount of cash. The amount of dev time that would go into making that happen is nothing compared to making, I don't know, some bullshit looter shooter from the ground up that immediately flops.

Careful. The monkey's paw gave us Final Fantasy Dimensions II that way…
